You'll serve CFOs, Controllers, Audit Committees, and executives, driving technical accounting excellence, SEC reporting readiness, and SOX 404 compliance while expanding client relationships and expanding

Qualifications

  • CPA designation required.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, advisory, or consulting.
  • Experience with a nationally recognized public accounting firm.
  • Deep expertise in technical accounting, U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX 404.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on complex U.S. GAAP accounting and reporting matters.
  • Lead technical accounting analyses for transactions and prepare position papers.
  • Guide clients through financial statement preparation and external reporting.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to executives, boards, and finance leaders.
  • Lead multiple engagements and ensure exceptional service and delivery.
  • Develop client relationships and expand engagements.

Technical Accounting Managing Director

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an accomplished Technical Accounting Managing Director to join its leadership team and help grow a high-performing advisory practice.

This is an opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, Audit Committees, and executive leadership teams, guiding clients through their most complex accounting and financial reporting challenges. You'll lead high-impact client engagements, mentor developing professionals, contribute to firm strategy, and play a meaningful role in expanding a growing practice.

The role offers a blend of client leadership, technical accounting, business development, and practice management, with the flexibility to leverage your unique strengths and interests.

What You'll Do
  • Advise public and private companies on complex U.S. GAAP accounting and financial reporting matters
  • Lead technical accounting analyses for significant business transactions and prepare or review accounting memoranda and position papers
  • Guide clients through financial statement preparation, SEC reporting, and other external reporting requirements
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive management, boards of directors, finance leaders, external auditors, and other stakeholders
  • Lead multiple client engagements while ensuring exceptional service delivery and project execution
  • Build long-term client relationships and identify opportunities to expand existing engagements
  • Participate in networking, business development, and new client acquisition efforts
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engagement teams
  • Collaborate across service lines to deliver integrated solutions that exceed client expectations

What We're Looking For
  • CPA designation required
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, advisory, or consulting
  • Experience with a nationally recognized public accounting firm
  • Deep expertise in technical accounting, U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX 404
  • Demonstrated success advising executive leadership on complex accounting matters
  • Experience leading multiple client engagements and managing competing priorities
  • Strong business development instincts with the ability to cultivate and expand client relationships
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring and developing professionals
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for helping grow a consulting practice
Work Environment

This is a hybrid position offering flexibility while maintaining close collaboration with colleagues and clients. Travel to client locations is required based on engagement needs, with occasional domestic travel as projects require.
