Job summary

Crate and Barrel is seeking a Transportation Manager to ensure timely delivery of products to internal and external customers. Based on-site at the Cranbury, NJ distribution center, you will plan outbound deliveries, monitor performance via analytics, and lead a team to optimize transportation operations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in transportation operations and strong financial acumen, with proficiency in Office and transportation software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
• 5+ years experience of direct oversight of Transportation Operations and strategy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google platform programs.

Responsibilities

• Manage transportation budgets, operational, and service standards for the building.
• Design, run, and plan Home Delivery Center and Store deliveries, ensuring accurate shipping plans and schedules.
• Monitor operational performance against KPIs and budget, perform root-cause analysis, and create action plans.
• Lead optimization initiatives to drive service improvements and cost savings.
• Manage yard staffing, scheduling, and inbound/outbound transportation responsibilities.
• Oversee carrier performance and partnerships to maintain high performance.

Job description

The Transportation Manager is an integral member of our team responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of product to our internal and external customers. You will be responsible for stewarding the effective planning of outbound deliveries by utilizing analytics to monitor performance. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has strong organizational skills, a high attention to detail, and a passion for service.

• This is an on-site position based out of our Cranbury, NJ Distribution Center

A day in the life as a Manager, Transportation...

• Responsible for all transportation financial budgets, operational, and service standards for the building
• Design, run, and plan Home Delivery Center and Store deliveries, ensuring accurate shipping plans and schedules, including transportation optimization, return logistics, and peak season strategies
• Monitor operational performance against established KPIs and budget, performs root-cause analysis as needed and creates necessary action plans to manage performance
• Identify and lead implementation of optimization and process improvement initiatives, driving service enhancement and cost savings (i.e. dedicated fleet optimization)
• Manage yard staffing, scheduling, and usage as well as supporting the building with all inbound and outbound transportation responsibilities
• Manage performance, accountability and development of carriers to maintain a high level of performance and encourage strategic partnership

What you'll bring to the table...

• Experience managing and developing teams to perform with a high sense of urgency and ability to shift and prioritize work to meet key deadlines
• Track record of building effective business and cross functional partnerships
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google platform programs
• Proficiency in 3rd party web-based platforms and transportation software such as Blue Yonder/Axel/AS/400, etc
• Excellent business and financial acumen
• Ability to effectively identify, develop, communicate and implement strategies and ideas across multiple business channels and audiences
