Job summary

Blue Signal Search seeks a hands-on Transportation Manager in Vero Beach to own a fast-moving operation, drive daily routing and dispatch, and optimize fleet and carrier performance.

You will lead private fleet activity and manage third-party relationships while ensuring DOT compliance and safety, documentation, and continuous improvements across cost and service metrics.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in transportation/logistics with supervision experience.
• Experience leading drivers, routing, scheduling, dispatch, and delivery ops.
• Hands-on with Class A private fleet and 3PL management.
• Sourcing carriers, negotiating freight rates, evaluating performance.
• Knowledge of DOT rules; maintain driver/docs as required.
• ERP/WMS tools (NetSuite, RFSmart preferred); TMS experience valued.
• Forklift and pallet jack certification required.
• Education as stated; degree preferred in logistics or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily transportation execution including routing, dispatch, delivery performance.
• Oversee Class A private fleet drivers, equipment utilization, yard flow.
• Manage third-party carrier relationships, sourcing capacity, rates, performance.
• Maintain transportation documentation and ensure DOT compliance and safety.
• Coach drivers and staff; set expectations on safety, service, accountability.
• Utilize ERP, WMS, routing systems for planning, visibility, reporting.
• Monitor costs, fleet utilization, service levels, and KPIs for improvement.
• Coordinate with warehouse, customer service, and operations to maintain reliability.
• Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, costs, and overall performance.

Our client is seeking a hands-on Transportation Manager to take ownership of a fast-moving transportation operation in Vero Beach. This is an opportunity for an experienced logistics leader to make a meaningful impact on daily execution, driver performance, fleet efficiency, carrier strategy, and transportation costs. The right candidate will combine strong frontline leadership with the ability to solve problems quickly, improve processes, and keep a complex mix of company fleet and third-party transportation running smoothly.

Focus:

• Lead daily transportation execution, including routing, scheduling, dispatch, delivery performance, and rapid response to service issues.
• Oversee Class A private fleet activity, including drivers, equipment utilization, trailer positioning, and yard flow.
• Manage third-party carrier relationships, including sourcing capacity, negotiating freight rates, monitoring performance, and resolving service concerns.
• Maintain transportation and driver documentation while reinforcing DOT requirements and safe operating practices.
• Coach and develop drivers and transportation personnel while establishing clear expectations around safety, service, and accountability.
• Use ERP, warehouse, transportation, and routing systems to support shipment planning, visibility, documentation, and reporting.
• Monitor transportation costs, fleet utilization, service levels, and other operating metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate closely with warehouse, customer service, and operational teams to address constraints and maintain reliable shipment execution.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen transportation efficiency, cost control, service, and overall operating performance.

Skill Set:

• 3 or more years of transportation, logistics, or supply chain experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
• Direct experience leading drivers or transportation personnel and managing daily routing, scheduling, dispatch, and delivery operations.
• Hands-on knowledge of Class A private fleet operations combined with third-party carrier management.
• Experience sourcing carriers, negotiating freight rates, and evaluating transportation provider performance.
• Working knowledge of DOT compliance requirements with experience maintaining driver and transportation documentation.
• ERP and WMS experience required, with NetSuite and RFSmart preferred. TMS or routing technology experience is also valued.
• Forklift and pallet jack certification required.
• High school diploma or GED required. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
