Position Overview

The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into management typically occurs within 8-12 weeks, depending on experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is part of the management team, expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the Store Manager's supervision, the MIT will maintain an engaged team through strong leadership and initiative.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in:

• Overall store management, supervision, and policy enforcement
• Financial management, including analyzing and reconciling monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Leading customer service efforts

MITs also complete operations and management training, learning about key business aspects and AutoZone culture. Performance and progression through training are essential for continued consideration for management roles.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
• Previous automotive experience is preferred but not required
• Experience analyzing financials, including P&L statements, is preferred but not required
