Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a development-focused trainee who will work with managers to plan, direct, and learn the business across departments such as marketing, sales, and operations.

The program emphasizes hands-on rotation, classroom instruction, and performance evaluations, with the goal of progressing to a managerial role upon successful completion. The role requires initiative and strong communication, plus the ability to analyze sales and assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in agriculture, engineering, industrial management or related field.
• 1+ year of related experience; military experience or internship preferred.
• In lieu of college degree, HS diploma/GED with 4–5 years plant/production management experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with other managers to plan and direct the work of the organization. Help set policies.
• Receive classroom instruction in subjects related to their rotational experience.
• Attend lectures, watch guest speakers, and create projects, oral presentations, and take tests.
• Work in different departments to gain perspective, including marketing, sales, customer services, purchasing, merchandising, and personnel departments.
• Handle established accounts to gain familiarity.
• Adhere to guidelines of formal written training program.
• Attend periodic evaluations.
• Achieve a passing score in all areas of the management training program in order to continue in the program.
• Participate with store management in interviewing, hiring, and training employees. Use company reports to analyze sales, gross profit and inventory activity.
• Identify trends and recommends proactive or remedial action to manage business situations.
• Report market activity to management by monitoring and analyzing competitive price lists and products.
• Work with and through management to develop and implement actions that protect company assets and profitability.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in agriculture, engineering, industrial management or related field AND 1 or more years of related experience; military experience or internship preferred; OR
• In lieu of college degree, HS diploma/GED and 4-5 years of plant/production management experience; military experience/background a plus.
