Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Management Trainee in Bastrop, Texas. This in-person, full-time program is designed to develop future leaders by providing structured training and hands-on experiences across multiple departments.

You will work directly with managers to plan operations, analyze performance metrics, and participate in interviewing and training initiatives aimed at protecting assets and driving profitability. A bachelor's degree and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, engineering, industrial management or related field.
• One year of related experience required (military service or internship acceptable). Alternatively, 4-5 years of plant/production management with no degree.
• Strong mechanical ability, plus good math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and directing operations, contributing to policy formulations.
• Evaluate sales, gross profit and inventory using company reports; monitor market activity and report trends to management.
• Participate in rotational experiences across departments (marketing, sales, customer service, purchasing, merchandising, personnel).
• Engage in formal training through classroom instruction, projects and tests to progress through the program.
• Assist store management in interviewing, hiring, training employees and protecting company assets.

What You’ll Actually Do

• Strategic Management Support: Work directly with managers to plan and direct the organization’s operations, playing a role in the formulation and establishment of company policies.
• Performance and Market Analysis: Evaluate work output, analyze sales, gross profit, and inventory using company reports, and monitor competitive market activity to identify trends and report findings to management.
• Cross-Departmental Immersion: Engage in rotational experiences across various departments, including marketing, sales, customer service, purchasing, merchandising, and personnel, to gain a holistic view of business operations.
• Formal Training and Development: Adhere to a structured written training program, participating in classroom instruction, lectures, guest speakers, and completing required projects, presentations, and tests to ensure program progression.
• Team Leadership & Business Protection: Participate with store management in interviewing, hiring, and training employees, and collaborate on developing and implementing actions to protect company assets and enhance profitability.

The Must-Haves

• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, engineering, industrial management, or a related field. This role focuses on developing future management talent.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of related experience is required, which may include military service or an internship. Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED paired with 4-5 years of plant/production management experience is acceptable, with military experience/background being a plus.
• Skills: Excellent mechanical ability, along with good math and computer proficiency.
• Bonus: Strong organizational and superior time management skills, exceptional written and oral communication abilities, and the capacity to work effectively within a team environment. Military experience or an internship is preferred for degree holders, and a military background is a plus for those without a degree.
