Telecom Manager – MDU

The Telecom Manager – MDU at North Sky Communications is responsible for overseeing the planning, engineering, scheduling, and active deployment of telecommunications infrastructure within Multi‑Dwelling Units (MDUs), including apartment complexes, condominiums, and master‑planned communities. This role manages cross‑functional field teams, coordinates with subcontractors, and maintains strong relationships with regional property developers and management companies to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and within margin targets.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the end‑to‑end deployment of MDU projects, covering site surveys, engineering design validation, local permitting, ISP/OSP construction (fiber/coaxial), and final testing/provisioning.
  • Partner with business development and property management entities to secure required site access, manage engineering walkthroughs, and resolve complex Right‑of‑Way (ROW) issues specific to private property.
  • Directly supervise internal field technicians, construction supervisors, and external placement/splicing subcontractors while maintaining a high‑performance safety culture adhering to OSHA and company regulations.
  • Manage project and market budgets, approve subcontractor invoices, track material yields (conduit, microduct, fiber optic cabling), and report on key production metrics.
  • Conduct systematic quality audits of completed work to ensure strict compliance with North Sky engineering expectations, customer standard operating procedures, and local building/National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regional telecom clients, providing clear data on project milestones, material tracking, and production forecasting.
What You’ll Need

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in telecommunications construction management, network deployment, or field engineering – specifically focusing on MDU/MTU environments.
  • 2+ years of experience managing field crews, construction supervisors, or multi‑disciplinary project teams in an OSP/ISP utility construction setting.
  • Strong operational knowledge of fiber‑to‑the‑home (FTTH/FTTP) architectures, structured cabling, pathway design (conduit, core drilling, microtrenching), and optical fiber splicing/testing practices.
  • Ability to interpret detailed engineering schematics, construction prints, base maps, and property blueprints.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required for regular travel to regional construction sites and property meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent project tracking certification.
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification.
  • Familiarity with proprietary customer management platforms and project mapping tools (ArcGIS, SpatialData, or custom design suites).
Working Conditions
  • Split environment between an office/yard setting and active indoor/outdoor construction environments.
  • Frequent travel throughout local and regional market footprints to inspect field progression and meet with stakeholders.
