Generate Capital seeks a Manager, Technical Accounting to deliver high-quality technical analyses, draft accounting policies, and assist with accounting for new transactions. You’ll partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams across Investments, Legal, FP&A, Tax, and Treasury to ensure accuracy, consistency, and scalable processes.

The role balances recurring technical work with ad hoc support for acquisitions, financing, and policy development, in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA (or international equivalent) required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 and corporate/transaction experience.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP across revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, consolidation, and debt accounting.

Responsibilities

• Perform contract reviews and advise on transaction structuring with clear accounting implications.
• Document accounting conclusions and prepare memorandums for review by leadership.

The Manager, Technical Accounting will play a key role in supporting Generate’s accounting and finance function by delivering high-quality technical analyses, drafting accounting policies, and assisting with accounting for new transactions. Reporting to the Director, Accounting Diligence and Integration, this person will collaborate closely with senior accounting leadership and cross-functional partners across Investments, Legal, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Asset Management.

This role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional with audit and industry experience who is eager to apply their U.S. GAAP expertise in a dynamic, transaction-oriented environment. The Manager will balance recurring technical accounting work with ad hoc support for acquisitions, financing arrangements, and policy development, helping ensure accuracy, consistency, and scalability as Generate continues to grow.

What you will be doing at Generate Capital as the Manager, Technical Accounting:

• Technical Accounting
• Perform contract reviews, including on executed or draft arrangements, and provide accounting expertise, including options and recommendations for transaction structuring, and simply and precisely explain accounting implications.
• Document accounting conclusions and prepare accounting memorandums for specific transactions or events for review by senior accounting leadership
• Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining accounting policies and supporting documentation
• Review financial statements and accounting conclusions from portfolio entities to ensure accuracy and consistency with Generate’s policies
• Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional partners to understand contractual arrangements, transactions, and operational structures.
• Collaborate with external auditors and advisors on technical accounting matters, including documentation for complex or unusual transactions
• Support internal education efforts by drafting materials and contributing to training sessions on accounting topics
• Assist with special projects on an ad-hoc basis
• Transaction Support
• Support accounting diligence and transaction execution, including purchase accounting, working capital adjustments, and review of agreements
• Evaluate transaction structures and agreements to identify accounting implications and coordinate findings with Senior Accounting Leadership and cross-functional partners
• Coordinate with external consultants and advisors involved in accounting diligence, valuation, or integration
• Contribute to the accounting workstream for acquisitions, divestitures, and reinvestment of proceeds into new assets or platforms

Candidate Qualifications & Core Characteristics

• A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA (or international equivalent) required
• 7+years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with a mix of Big 4 public accounting and corporate or transaction-related experience
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with depth in revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, consolidation, capitalization and PP&E, debt and equity investments, other financial assets, and debt accounting
• Experience supporting acquisition due diligence, purchase accounting, or financial integration is preferred
• Familiarity with tax equity structures, structured financings, or renewable infrastructure investments is a plus
• Strong analytical and Excel skills; able to organize and interpret complex data
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Demonstrates an ownership mentality and takes projects from start to finish, proactively identifying issues and seeking solutions along the way; holds self accountable for outcomes, rather than just tasks
• Comfortable leveraging AI and other technology tools to enhance productivity and analysis, while applying professional judgment and skepticism rather than relying on outputs at face value

Generate’s compensation packages are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Salary decisions take into account a wide variety of factors including, but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $175,000. In addition, the compensation package may include a discretionary bonus and other benefits, including health care benefits, retirement benefits, benefits permitting paid days off (including sick leave, parental leave, and paid time off or vacation benefits), and other benefits that must be reported for federal tax purposes. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of this range.
