Where you will work: This role offers a hybrid work option and is preferably based in WI-Sun Prairie or WI-Prairie du Sac, but open to any Wisconsin office.

The contributions you will make:

This role leads a team of tax and accounting professionals to meet client financial goals and drive revenue. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to grow the client base and build relationships, manage tax risks, serve as a technical resource, and participate in process improvements to deliver exceptional service and accurate financial information.

A typical day:

Strategic Leadership
  • Champion the brand; embody the organization’s vision, mission, and values; support strategic initiatives.
  • Assist leadership in setting the strategic direction for the Tax and Accounting team.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and implement efficient processes.
  • Manage and leverage team activities effectively.
  • Contribute to process design for efficiency and service quality.
Team Management
  • Create a positive work environment, leveraging team talents.
  • Set performance standards and development plans.
  • Support process improvements and develop best practices.
  • Hire, develop, motivate, evaluate, and compensate team members.
  • Assign workloads based on skills and priorities.
  • Onboard, coach, and mentor new hires.
  • Determine and approve training and development activities.
Expertise and Analysis
  • Interpret and communicate complex financial data clearly.
  • Identify and analyze new regulations and financial data.
  • Maintain expertise in tax and accounting products/services.
  • Serve as a knowledge resource for the team and other departments.

The skills and experience we prefer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in public accounting or tax planning/preparation.
  • Leadership and management experience preferred.
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent certification preferred.
  • Ability to complete the Farm Credit Services Tax Exam within two years.
  • Knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations in Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin.
  • Experience preparing various tax returns.
  • Agricultural industry experience preferred.
  • Strategic, innovative, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High integrity and problem-solving skills.
