Job summary

What You Can Expect

The Supply Chain Manager has overall responsibility for the supply planning, procurement, and management of orders of medical devices and services from approved suppliers in alignment with forecasted net requirements. This role drives effective supply planning through a deep understanding of both internal and external constraints, analysis of data, assessment/mitigation of risk, and effective problem solving. This role interfaces with the other departments to align on and achieve organizational objective. The Supply Chain Manager is also responsible for the management of people within this team.

How You'll Create Impact
  • Manage supplier capability, capacity, and cost to allocate annual spend to qualified suppliers optimizing for service, quality, and cost.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with external contract-manufacturing and other supply partners.
  • Works closely with internal partners such as Engineering, Quality, and Marketing to drive operational metrics such as inventory health and purchases
  • Review and approve purchase orders to ensure compliance with company policy and alignment to supplier contract conditions.
  • Oversee the management of basic and advanced planning parameters to ensure optimal net requirements planning.
  • Manage net requirements against supply and demand; manage open order exceptions.
  • Drive the KPIs review; develop and execute strategies to address unfavorable results.
  • Identify and lead closure of business process gaps; collaborate with stakeholders to drive business process improvement for planning, procurement, and inventory.
  • Lead regular supplier production reviews to ensure needed capacity and on-time delivery.
  • Control inventory levels to mitigate stockouts while maintaining cost effective operational expenses.
  • Lead new supplier qualification activities.
  • Coordinates existing and potential supplier facilities to evaluate manufacturing processes, capabilities, recent investments, potential for growth, performance trends, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What Makes You Stand Out

Industry-Specific Experience

  • Understanding of orthopedic products (implants, instruments, biologics) and their unique supply chain requirements.
  • Familiarity with surgeon preferences, OR protocols, and case-based inventory models (e.g., loaner kits, field inventory).
  • Experience managing make-to-order (MTO) and just-in-time (JIT) models common in orthopedic logistics.

Technical Supply Chain Expertise

  • Proven success optimizing end-to-end supply chain: procurement, production planning, inventory management, distribution, and logistics.
  • Strong background in demand forecasting, S&OP, ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Experience with global sourcing and supplier qualification, especially for precision components and raw materials (e.g., titanium, PEEK, cobalt-chrome).

Regulatory and Quality Knowledge

  • Understanding of FDA QSR (21 CFR Part 820) and ISO 13485 as they apply to supply chain and distribution.
  • Experience supporting traceability, UDI compliance, and lot/batch control.
  • Familiarity with recall procedures, CAPA, and supplier audits.
Your Background
  • Four-year Degree (B.S/B.A.) or equivalent work experience required,
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in related field such as supply planning, purchasing, or supply chain required, preferably in medical device environment; may accept prior military service in leadership positions in lieu of specific supply chain experience.
  • APICS CSCP/CPIM certification preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including expert level Excel skills.
  • SAP ECC or S4 experience preferred.
  • Strategic Sourcing, opportunity analysis, and strong negotiation skills.
  • Highly effective communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with detailed product line forecasts; familiarity with Sales & Operations Planning business management process.
  • Demonstrated success in driving process improvement.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving skills, and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with various cross functional teams.
  • Previous medical device experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership style that motivates team performance by communicating a company vision and provides coaching to a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
Travel Expectations

Up to 30% overnight travel

Compensation Data

Annual Salary Range: $107,000- $119,000 USD, depending on experience
