Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking an experienced engineering leader to shape and drive a defined product/ platform domain. You will lead software engineers, coach peers, and own end-to-end delivery from design to operation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with leadership exposure.
• Experience coaching engineers and delivering end-to-end domains.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language (Java/Kotlin/Go/Python/TypeScript).
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native tech, Kubernetes, containers and CI/CD.
• Ability to review code/architecture and unblock complex issues.
• Experience with sprint planning, prioritization, and performance management.

Job Description

The role reports to our Store Support Office in Phoenix, AZ, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday.

Overview Of Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of a defined engineering product, service, or platform domain.
• Establish short-term team goals, delivery priorities, sprint plans, and accountability for operational results.
• Lead, direct, and review the work of software engineering professionals to accomplish defined departmental objectives.
• Coach direct reports and partner with Principal and senior technical leaders on architecture, engineering standards, and cross-discipline delivery.
• Review code and architecture as needed to assess tradeoffs and unblock decisions within the assigned domain.
• Improve engineering processes, systems, and team practices within the assigned job area.
• Explain technical and delivery decisions and gain cooperation from Product, Design, Data, and other partner teams.
• Hire, onboard, develop, and manage performance in accordance with company guidelines.
• Lead incident response and corrective actions for the assigned team and domain.
• Identify emerging leadership or capacity needs and recommend changes to team structure as the organization grows.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including hands‑on experience prior to moving into people leadership.
• People‑leadership experience managing and coaching software engineering professionals.
• Track record owning a service, product, platform, or engineering domain end to end.
• Production proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• Knowledge of cloud‑native engineering, Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to review code and architecture and resolve difficult issues involving related systems or job areas.
• Experience with work prioritization, delivery planning, sprint execution, coaching, and process execution.
• Experience with hiring, performance management, promotion, and reward recommendations in accordance with company guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior individual‑contributor experience at the Senior or Staff Software Engineer level.
• Experience working across software, data, quality, ML/AI, and site reliability disciplines.
• Working knowledge of agentic AI or large language model service architecture.
• Retail or merchandising technology experience.
