The Software Development Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of full stack developers. The Development Manager is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of applications, coordinating with various stakeholders, mentoring team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The Software Development Manager plays a crucial role in driving innovation, enhancing productivity, and maintaining efficient development processes.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems, applications, and/or components for market sale or proprietary software.
  2. Oversee the strategic planning, execution, and successful delivery of software development projects, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables, managing project timelines, resources, and budgets, and ensuring adherence to software development methodologies and best practices.
  3. Serve as lead and technical expert on development projects, participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, and deployment.
  4. Follow the team’s established Agile processes which include supporting both short- and long-term planning, cross-functional support, and demonstrating working software.
  5. Evaluate new platforms, technologies, and software products/techniques to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within the company's products.
  6. Make design decisions which encourage leverage, potential reuse, componentization, extensibility, maintainability, and are minimally coupled.
  7. Provide solutions and alternatives to impasses impacting timetables, scalability, and performance factors as they pertain to production, implementation, and technological advancements.
  8. Act as escalation point for Software Development team.
  9. Continuously monitor and stay informed about the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the team remains at the forefront of innovation.
  10. Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Team Leadership
  1. Provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities to a team of software developers.
  2. Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.
  3. Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback to enhance team members' skills and productivity.
  4. Promote professional growth and career development by facilitating training and advancement opportunities for team members.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering, information systems preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 12+ years of industry and/or relevant experience, typically with 2+ years in a VP level role or external equivalent.
  • 5+ years managing distributed teams as a hands-on leader.
  • Working knowledge of multiple programming languages, software development environments, and lifecycle procedures including C#,.Net, .Net Core, Python, JavaScript frameworks (Angular, VUE, React).
  • Experience with software development frameworks, API integrations, databases, and cloud-native app development or migration, preferably on AWS.
  • Familiarity with AWS technologies (API Gateway, Lambda, EKS, Transfer Family), Event-driven Architecture, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong foundation in enterprise software architecture: APIs, databases, DevOps, IaC (Terraform), and observability tools (Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, or similar tools.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum and DevOps environments.
  • Proactive, decisive, and adaptable in fast-paced settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Qualifications
  • Experience with generative AI technologies and frameworks.
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement AI models and algorithms.
  • Expertise in language models (LLMs), embeddings, prompt engineering, RAG, vector search, and model validation.
  • Strong experience with AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Python, and modern ML/AI stacks.
  • Familiarity with AWS-native AI/ML workflows and security compliance.

The annual salary range is $160,000 - $180,000, determined by experience, education, and other factors. Additional benefits include bonuses, PTO, holidays, and comprehensive insurance and retirement plans.
