Job summary

Alterra Mountain Company is seeking an experienced Slope Maintenance lead for Mammoth Mountain. You will oversee grooming operations, manage a team, and coordinate machine maintenance to ensure safe, efficient snow operations in the Sierra Nevada.

This role requires 3–4 years in snow cat operations and 2–3 years of management, plus a CDL with HazMat endorsements. Excellent budgeting and training skills are essential for success in this position at Mammoth Mountain.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of snow cat operations experience.
• 2–3 years of management experience.
• Commercial driver license with HazMat endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all snow cat grooming operations on Mammoth Mountain.
• Manage Slope Maintenance department staffing and equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance of machines with Garage Facility.
• Schedule snow cat operators.
• Develop and implement rigorous training programs.
• Develop and implement SnowSat fleet management reporting tools.
• Manage construction projects and coordinate outside contractors.
• Control fuel, wages, and repair costs within budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A little about this position:

• Reporting to the Director of Slope Maintenance, incumbent is responsible for any and all snow cat grooming on Mammoth Mountain.
• Oversees all operations of Slope Maintenance department including but not limited to equipment and employees.
• Coordinates maintenance of any and all machines with Garage Facility.
• Provides scheduling of all snow cat operators.
• Responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of a rigorous training program.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of the SnowSat fleet management system, including the development and implementation of reporting tools.
• Manages construction projects, including the coordination of outside contractors.
• Must manage fuel, wages and repair cost within budgetary guidelines set by department head.
• Responsible for any or all other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• 3-4 years on snow cat operations experience.
• 2-3 years management experience preferred.
• Willing to work flexible hours, including day, swing, and grave shifts.
• Possession of a commercial driving license, including HAZMAT endorsements.

Pay: $80,213.49 - $84,825.66 per year
