Job summary

Alterra’s Mammoth Mountain is seeking an experienced Snow Cat Operations Lead to oversee grooming operations on Mammoth Mountain and manage the Slope Maintenance department. You will coordinate machine maintenance, schedule operators, and drive training initiatives.

The role includes steering the SnowSat fleet management system and coordinating construction projects, with responsibility for budget-aligned fuel, wages, and repairs. A CDL with HazMat is required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 3–4 years of snow cat operations experience.
• 2–3 years of management experience preferred.
• Commercial driver’s license with HAZMAT endorsements.
• Able to work flexible hours including day, swing, and grave shifts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee snow cat grooming operations on Mammoth Mountain.
• Manage all Slope Maintenance department activities, equipment, and staff.
• Coordinate maintenance of machines with Garage Facility.
• Schedule snow cat operators.
• Develop and implement rigorous training programs.
• Develop and implement the SnowSat fleet management system and reporting tools.
• Manage construction projects and coordinate external contractors.
• Monitor fuel, wages, and repair costs within budget.

A little about this position:

• Reporting to the Director of Slope Maintenance, incumbent is responsible for any and all snow cat grooming on Mammoth Mountain.
• Oversees all operations of Slope Maintenance department including but not limited to equipment and employees.
• Coordinates maintenance of any and all machines with Garage Facility.
• Provides scheduling of all snow cat operators.
• Responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of a rigorous training program.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of the SnowSat fleet management system, including the development and implementation of reporting tools.
• Manages construction projects, including the coordination of outside contractors.
• Must manage fuel, wages and repair cost within budgetary guidelines set by department head.
• Responsible for any or all other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Graduate or equivalent.

• Possession of a commercial driving license, including HAZMAT endorsements.

Pay: $80,213.49 - $84,825.66 per year
