Formlabs in Somerville, MA seeks a Manager, SEC Reporting to lead external financial reporting, ensure US GAAP compliance, and support SEC filings in a fast-growing, public-ready environment.

You will own the reporting calendar, coordinate with audit, tax, FP&A and operations, drive SOX controls, and optimize reporting tools like Workiva. 4+ years in accounting with SEC experience required; CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in SEC reporting (public company).
• Familiarity with complex technical accounting areas including equity, inventory, and taxes.
• Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules (S‑X, S‑K), and EDGAR filing.
• Hands-on use of specialized financial reporting software (Workiva/DFIN).
• Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite), Excel, and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead external financial reporting activities: prepare, coordinate, draft, and review quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A.
• Own and optimize the financial reporting platform to improve efficiency and data integrity.
• Lead accounting policy development and ensure policy compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements.
• Perform technical accounting research related to complex transactions and new standards.
• Manage quarterly reviews and annual audits with external auditors.
• Support tax compliance activities with external advisors.

• Collaborate with FP&A, Operations, Treasury, Tax, and Legal to advance company goals.
• Drive process improvements and special projects to scale reporting.

Your Impact:

As our Manager, SEC Reporting, you will play a critical part in the preparation, accuracy, and timely filing of all financial statements and disclosures and scaling to meet public‑company standards.

You will be a key architect in the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, draft technical accounting memorandums, and ensure our reporting framework aligns with US GAAP and rigorous regulatory benchmarks. This is a high‑visibility role offering deep exposure to complex transaction accounting and the evolution of our financial operations.

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Technical Accounting, External Reporting, and Internal Compliance and work closely with other key members of the Finance team including the Corporate Controller, Head of FP&A, and Head of IR.

This position offers broad exposure to global accounting operations, technical accounting matters, internal controls and financial reporting.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Manage external financial reporting activities, including the preparation, coordination, drafting, and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, footnote disclosures, Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), earnings releases, and other SEC filings.
• Own and optimize the financial reporting platform (e.g., Workiva, ActiveDisclosure, or similar) to enhance reporting efficiency, data integrity, collaboration, and version control.
• Lead accounting policy development and compliance, including the implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
• Perform technical accounting research and analysis related to complex transactions, accounting policy interpretations, and the adoption of new accounting standards and pronouncements.
• Manage quarterly reviews and annual audits by preparing audit schedules, facilitating information requests, and serving as a primary point of contact for external auditors.
• Support tax compliance and reporting activities in partnership with external tax advisors and service providers.
• Execute key SOX controls related to financial reporting, disclosure controls, and SEC filing processes.
• Partner cross‑functionally with FP&A, Operations, Treasury, Tax, and Legal to support strategic initiatives, improve processes, and drive business objectives.
• Lead process improvement and special projects that strengthen financial reporting, operational efficiency, and scalability.

About You:

• 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused specifically on SEC reporting (directly within a public company)
• Working knowledge of complex technical accounting areas; equity, inventory, and taxes.
• Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls over financial reporting
• Deep familiarity with US GAAP, SEC regulations (S‑X and S‑K), and the EDGAR filing process.
• Hands‑on experience with specialized financial reporting software (e.g., Workiva (Wdesk), DFIN ActiveDisclosure) is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. NetSuite), Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite

Bonus Skills:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
• Big Four public accounting experience
• Experience with XBRL/iXBRL tagging

At Formlabs, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization.

The annual base pay range for this role is:

$95,000—$120,000 USD
