Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital seeks a Manager (RN) for the Emergency Department to lead a 14-bed unit with a 5:1 patient ratio. You will oversee staffing, ensure high‑quality care, and drive daily operations in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Qualifications

  • Active North Carolina RN license or compact state license required.
  • BSN preferred; related work experience may substitute.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days.
  • ACLS certification required within six months.
  • Minimum overnight travel up to 10%.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Assist with developing departmental goals, standards, and objectives aligned to the organization’s plan.
  • Manage staff relations including scheduling, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, contracts, and vendor relations.
  • Coordinate patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments; may provide patient care when necessary.
  • Hire, train and develop staff; administer corrective action and reviews.

Join our team in our 14-bed Emergency Department with a 5:1 ratio. Our diverse staff includes RNs, CNAs, Paramedics, Secretaries, and Providers, creating a collaborative environment to deliver exceptional care. Known for our wide variety of patient experiences, including Abdominal pain, and shortness of breath, we also take pride in our chest pain accreditation. With an average daily volume between 50-70 patients, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality emergency medical care while working alongside a dedicated team in a fast-paced setting.

How you'll contribute
  • To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
  • Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
  • Assess the quality of patient care delivered and coordinates patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments. May provide patient care when necessary.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

What we're looking for
  • Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred, applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS required within six months of hire.
  • Minimum overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
