Garner Cleaning Service is a family-owned cleaning company serving Southern Illinois for nearly 30 years. As we continue growing both our established commercial cleaning division and our residential cleaning division, we are seeking a dependable, experienced, and highly organized Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day cleaning operations across both divisions.
This is a hands-on working management position . The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading employees, maintaining quality standards, coordinating daily operations, conducting walkthroughs and inspections, managing supplies, addressing operational issues, and personally filling in for cleaning assignments when necessary .
The successful candidate must be comfortable transitioning between management responsibilities and hands-on cleaning based on the needs of the company.
This position requires schedule flexibility because it oversees both residential and commercial operations.
Residential cleaning primarily occurs Monday–Friday during daytime hours.
Commercial cleaning primarily occurs during afternoon and evening hours.
Manager schedule will vary based on operational needs, inspections, walkthroughs, employee training, customer needs, and coverage.
Availability to respond to unexpected call-offs or coverage issues is required.
Some days may require a combination of daytime and evening responsibilities.
Oversee day-to-day residential and commercial cleaning operations.
Coordinate employee schedules and ensure customer locations are appropriately staffed.
Handle call-offs and unexpected staffing changes.
Personally fill in and perform residential or commercial cleaning when adequate employee coverage cannot be obtained.
Assign employees and teams based on customer needs, workload, experience, and performance.
Assist with new account and customer start-ups.
Identify operational problems and implement appropriate solutions.
Communicate important operational information to company leadership.
Conduct routine quality-control inspections at residential and commercial locations.
Perform customer and facility walkthroughs as required.
Ensure employees are following customer specifications and Garner Cleaning Service standards.
Identify cleaning deficiencies and ensure they are corrected promptly.
Follow up on customer concerns and recurring quality issues.
Document inspections, employee performance concerns, and corrective actions when necessary.
Maintain consistent cleaning standards throughout both divisions.
Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to cleaning technicians.
Train and assist new employees in proper cleaning procedures, equipment use, chemical use, safety procedures, and company expectations.
Reinforce company policies and cleaning procedures.
Coach employees when performance or quality does not meet company standards.
Assist leadership with employee evaluations and performance management.
Promote professionalism, accountability, reliability, and teamwork.
Lead employees on job sites when necessary.
Monitor cleaning supply and equipment needs.
Maintain appropriate supply inventory.
Prepare and place supply orders as needed.
Distribute supplies to employees and customer locations.
Ensure chemicals, equipment, and supplies are being used appropriately.
Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment and coordinate replacement or repair as necessary.
Help control unnecessary supply usage and waste.
Maintain professional communication with residential and commercial customers.
Address routine customer questions and service concerns.
Conduct walkthroughs with customers when necessary.
Communicate service changes or concerns to company leadership.
Protect customer privacy, confidentiality, property, keys, access codes, and security information.
Represent Garner Cleaning Service professionally at all times.
The Operations Manager must be capable and willing to perform all cleaning responsibilities completed by Garner Cleaning Service employees when operationally necessary.
Management responsibilities do not eliminate the expectation to perform cleaning work when needed.
Candidates should understand that this position requires both management ability and willingness to perform hands-on cleaning work.

Other days may require training an employee, resolving a customer concern, delivering supplies, or stepping into a cleaning assignment because of an unexpected call-off.
