Job summary

MacAllister Machinery Company, Inc. is seeking a qualified leader to direct and manage the day-to-day service operations at a shop and/or field location in Michigan.

You will coordinate workflow, ensure staffing, and maintain safety compliance while guiding a team of technicians. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in a lead or supervisory role with diesel technology expertise, preferably with Caterpillar equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational diesel training preferred.
• 2-3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• 5+ years diesel technology experience preferred, ideally Caterpillar.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of engine systems.
• Familiarity with safety standards and warranty procedures.

Job description

This position will direct and manage the shop and/or field functions of the relative location. This includes but not limited to coordinating and managing workflow of shop and/ or field; maintain communications between all parties, ensure shop is appropriately staffed, ensure the shop is in compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines, and other leadership duties.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

• Direct and manage the day-to-day service operations of a shop and/or field location, which includes monitoring all work and overseeing all work order functions
• Meet all safety goals of the department and promote a safe work environment through good housekeeping, elimination of safety hazards, responsiveness to employee suggestions etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Ensures compliance with established corporate standards. Oversees day to day operations of the unit. Reviews and evaluates the work and performance of reporting employees. Has significant input regarding hiring and disciplining employees

Position Requirements

Required:

• Knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through a high school education or the equivalent with additional training preferred through a vocational school with studies in diesel technology.
• 2-3 years of experience in a Lead or Supervisory role

Preferred:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in diesel technology, preferably with Caterpillar.
• Excellent mechanical abilities as demonstrated through daily work practices of diagnosing and repairing equipment

• Ability to build and lead a successful team
• Ability to operate a computer and necessary programs such as Microsoft Office products and database systems

• Works under limited supervision. Independently determines the approach to take and the methods to use. Interprets policy in terms of objectives. Informs manager of unusual situations with far reaching implications.
• Major responsibilities typically require a modest amount of creativity and latitude. Employee typically operates under general instructions with some established procedures and policies
• If an error is made while in this position, it will require moderate effort to identify the error and can create a moderate impact on the company financially
