Job summary

Invenergy LLC in Chicago leads engineering for utility-scale solar projects across the United States. The Manager, Renewable Engineering (Solar) will guide a regional team, oversee system design, energy assessment, and risk analysis, and collaborate across teams from origination to construction.

The role is based in our downtown Chicago office with a hybrid schedule (in‑office Mon–Thu, remote on Fri). Travel up to 25% is expected, and the company offers comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Support solar project development and engineering deliverables for utility-scale solar projects.
• Identify, hire, onboard and train new solar engineers.
• Manage a regional solar project engineering team focusing on system design and risk analysis.
• Collaborate with Development, Origination, Pre-Construction, PM, Procurement, Environmental, Legal and Regulatory teams.
• Lead up to project commercial operations and handover to Operations.
• Represent Invenergy LLC with customers, officials and stakeholders.

Job Description

Position Overview

As a Manager, Renewable Engineering (Solar), you will lead a team that performs engineering activities for utility scale solar projects throughout the United States. The role will support opportunities sourced through the Origination team and the Renewable Energy Development team.

This position will be located at Invenergy's downtown Chicago, IL office. Invenergy follows a hybrid schedule, working in office Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays.

Responsibilities

• Support the Origination and Development teams in customer meetings and with engineering deliverables for proposal development for utility scale solar projects.
• Identify, hire, onboard and train new solar engineers to support the growth of the company
• Manage a regional solar project engineering team with focus on critical issues including system design, energy assessment, risk analysis and other duties as required to support the development, design and construction of utility scale solar energy plants
• Work collaboratively with the Development, Origination, Pre-Construction, Project Management, Procurement, Environmental, Legal, Regulatory and other teams to support solar project development, engineering and construction
• Work collaboratively Project Management, Procurement, Project Electrical Engineering and Operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations.
• Represent Invenergy LLC with customers, state and local officials, industry associations and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required
• 5+ years of engineering experience
• Up to 25% travel will be required
• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the solar energy field
• Masters in engineering is a plus
• Experience in leading an engineering group
• 7+ years professional experience preferred
• Strong engineering organizational, networking, leadership, and time management skills
• Ability to accommodate travel some travel domestically (not more than 25%)

Base Pay

$135,000.00 - $165,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 25% - 40%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
