Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Largo, FL is seeking a Quality leader with a strong background in aerospace quality systems to join our Naval Electronics team. You will staff, train, equip, and direct quality assurance personnel and champion improved processes.

This role requires a Bachelor's in engineering and at least 5 years of experience, deep knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001, and the ability to lead corrective actions using disciplined problem solving. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 5 years of experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills.
• Ability to lead corrective action using disciplined problem-solving methods and statistical analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of AS9100 & ISO 9001 standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality leadership to direct reports, peers and superiors in support of the DRS mission.
• Staff, train, equip, and direct quality assurance personnel including quality engineers, inspectors, analysts, and auditors.
• Identify and justify capital equipment and/or technology improvements.
• Maintain, execute, and improve the quality management system using department and company resources.
• Review status of quality management system, develop and implement actions to improve; report results.
• Manage ERP-related quality systems and modules using data to drive improvement.
• Coordinate with customers and suppliers during early planning phases of development and production.
• Lead internal audits; plan and conduct audits and manage corrective actions.
• Manage and/or contribute to budgets and department expenses.
• Develop and review QA cost estimates in support of proposals.
• Specialize in distinct quality functions, while aiming for competency across all.
• Assist in developing and approving SOPs.

Job Summary

Support the DRS Quality mission statement: “Establish a culture of innovation within DRS Quality teams, championing the deployment of superior processes in lieu of traditional inspection activities and ensuring the delivery of continuously improving value and compliance to our customers and business units.”

Staff, train, equip, and direct the activities of quality assurance personnel including quality engineers, inspectors, analysts, and auditors.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide quality leadership to direct reports peers and superiors in support of the DRS mission
• Staff, train, equip, and direct the activities of quality assurance personnel including quality engineers, inspectors, analysts, and auditors
• Identify and justify capital equipment and / or technology improvements
• Maintain, execute, and improve the quality management system using departmental and company resources
• Review status of quality management system, developing and implementing actions to improve. Report on the results of these actions
• Manage all ERP related quality systems / modules using data to drive improvement through disciplined metrics management and team projects
• Perform direct coordination with customer and suppliers during early planning phases of development and production programs
• Perform functions of Lead Auditor Plan and conduct internal company audits including management of corrective action process
• Manage and/or contribute to direct and indirect budgets and department expenses
• Develop and review quality assurance cost estimates in support of proposal efforts
• May specialize in distinct Quality functions such as Supplier Quality, but ideally will prove competency in all Quality functions
• Assist in the development and approval of the Standard Operating procedures (SOP)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in a related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
• Ability to lead effective corrective action using disciplined problem-solving methods and statistical analysis
• In-depth knowledge of AS9100 & ISO 9001 Standards

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
