Job summary

Albany International Corporation is seeking a seasoned engineering program manager to plan and direct activities of a group of program engineers, providing technical leadership to ensure projects meet quality, schedule and budget goals.

You will oversee budgets, resource planning, and cross-functional coordination, drive Lean manufacturing initiatives, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards while delivering customer-focused solutions.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of technical program-related experience in a government contracting environment.
  • BS Degree in Engineering, science or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in the management of technical personnel and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project and people management including the technical assessment of all assigned projects.
  • Drives functional excellence initiatives and ensures technical excellence for product development.
  • Prepare and deliver annual budgets (headcount, expense and capital) for final review and approval.
  • Provide strategic direction and guides the team in complex or difficult situations, removes obstacles, assigns appropriate resources and interfaces with other functions to assist with issue resolution.
  • Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff.
  • Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources.
  • Responsible for the implementation, enforcement and compliance of all relevant quality, regulatory and safety standards.
  • Manage resources to support program schedules, balancing needs, priorities and cost.
  • Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing and mentoring/coaching others in rapid problem solving and improvement.
  • Establish priorities imparting a sense of urgency and importance to effectively deliver new products per quality, cost and time constraints.
  • Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Drive accountability to timelines and metrics throughout the organization.
  • Frequent coordination with internal personnel at various management levels concerning operations, scheduling or specific phases of projects or programs.
  • Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning specific operations.
  • Frequently is involved simultaneously in several programs. Ensures product and customer service quality. Resolves issues and/or team conflicts. Will have primary responsibility for program growth and developing current customer base.
  • Meets with program managers, support staff, vendors, and customers to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
  • Conducts briefings to Senior Management

Job description
