About the Team: The Printing Division team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by…

Producing quality textbooks and other supporting printed materials to distribute to Christian schools and homeschoolers around the world. These printed materials will be produced in an efficient and cost-effective process.

Role Summary: As a Manager, Production Maintenance, at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the Printing Division team by managing the Technical Support team to provide both mechanical and electrical maintenance of machines and equipment utilized for book production in the Print Shop and product shipping in the Press Distribution Center (PDC).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, coordinate and oversee maintenance plans and personnel to perform repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment in the Print Shop and PDC.
  • Oversee and participate in troubleshooting and repair activities for equipment breakdowns, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly and effectively to minimize production disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols in maintenance activities. Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a culture of safety awareness among maintenance staff.
  • Administer and develop comprehensive work order maintenance system utilizing the Fiix maintenance system.
  • Manage equipment spare parts inventory including identifying additional spare parts required to minimize downtime.
  • Work to sustain and improve the OEE of equipment including improvement of MTBF and MTTR.
  • KPI tracking and action plan maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in maintenance operations. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors as needed for specialized maintenance services, ensuring quality workmanship and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist Senior Manager, Production in quality control, work standards, work standards compliance, and 5S
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

  • The ability to administrate the Fiix maintenance system.
  • Able to use an Excel spreadsheet for analysis and reporting.
  • Comfortable with supervising maintenance staff and interacting with other Print Shop personnel.
  • Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably in a digital press printing environment. Expertise in automation and controls required.
  • Must be able to solve simple and complex maintenance and/or people problems.
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity and humility in every situation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in automation, controls, or electronics
  • 6+ years of industry or related experience in a pertinent discipline or business function
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Strong reading and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
  • Efficient time management skills through appropriate prioritization of tasks.
  • Recognize and drive value-added conflict resolution through active listening and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Must be able to perform all physical duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must possess good vision and hearing.
