Position Summary:

For our Clinical Trials Division (CTD) in Beijing, China, we are looking for a Sourcing Manager.

The Clinical Trials Division (CTD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific focuses on providing end-to-end clinical trial solutions for our customers across various therapies. We support biotech/pharmaceutical startups to large pharmaceutical companies, offering services for clinical trial execution globally. Our extensive global footprint of FDA cGMP facilities and regional hubs allows us to deliver the right medication to the right patient on time.

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for the successful sourcing of Comparator, Co-Medication, and similar products, aiming to drive competitive advantages and optimize relationships with strategic suppliers, mainly wholesalers and DTP pharmacies, primarily within mainland China.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing

• Manage the current and future regional sourcing network.
• Generate new supplier contracts and develop strategic, long-term relationships with suppliers, building trust over time.
• Negotiate supply agreements and purchasing terms, including prices, volume discounts, and cash discounts.
• Conduct supplier benchmarking, satisfaction ratings, and analyses such as SWOT with the Comparator Sourcing team.

Transactional Sourcing

• Coordinate with overseas suppliers to provide competitive offers for clients.
• Serve as the primary backup sourcing specialist when needed.

Communication with Customers and Project Management

• Support the Comparator Project Manager in projects, including participating in tenders and negotiations to ensure successful proposals.
• Act as a deputy or Customer Project Manager in case of capacity issues within the team.

Quality and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with GDP/GSP standards in all responsibilities.
• Support QA in product recalls, supplier qualification, and audits.
• Maintain adherence to FCS rules, regulations, and legal and financial standards, adapting them as needed.

Team Management

• Build and develop the local sourcing team, coaching and developing sourcing specialists.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives, lean projects, and other efficiency programs.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field, preferably in chemical or pharmaceutical sciences.
• At least 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical device industries or equivalent.
• Experience in sourcing, commercial, or clinical pharmaceutical supply chains.
• Strong multitasking, attention to detail, influencing, and communication skills.
• Strategic thinking and people management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal English skills; proficiency in a secondary language is a plus due to diverse supply base.
