Job summary

Jobtailor in Illinois seeks a senior procurement professional to lead capital project sourcing and contracting. You will partner with engineering, project management, operations, and other internal stakeholders to drive strategic procurement and ensure governance compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 7+ years of procurement experience, with construction and equipment procurement.
• Knowledge of contract law and reading technical specs.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting activities for capital projects
• Partner with cross‑functional teams including engineering, project management, operations, and other internal stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and governance requirements
• Draft requests for information and requests for proposal (RFP)
• Identify and recommend innovative or alternative sourcing strategies and supplier options
• Establish and lead supplier relationship management initiatives within the capital supplier base
• Research market dynamics, cost drivers, supplier business models, and historical spend
• Resolve supplier and internal stakeholder issues
• Manage supplier performance by tracking key performance indicators
• Build and maintain positive, productive, and collaborative relationships with suppliers, contractors, and internal partners

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 7+ years of experience in procurement
• Experience in construction and equipment procurement
• Broad understanding of capital equipment and the construction industry
• Contract law knowledge, including review and interpretation of statements of work, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
• Experience negotiating large purchases and complex technical requirements
• Demonstrated success managing competitive sourcing events and single‑source procurements
• Experience independently managing multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines
• Intermediate Excel experience and ERP, enterprise resource planning system experience
