Job summary

Howell Instruments Inc. is seeking a Manager of Procurement in Fort Worth, TX to lead purchasing and supplier relations, align with engineering and production, and drive cost-effective procurement for production, repair, and customer requirements.

You will oversee the requisition/PO process, monitor supplier performance, and implement standardized procurement controls to support inventory accuracy and timely delivery in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • BBA or equivalent from an accredited college is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience in electronics manufacturing, with at least 3 years supervising personnel or leading procurement-related functions.
  • Must have strong decision-making, negotiation, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in interpreting drawings, specifications, blueprints, data sheets, and purchasing requirements; familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier relationships for materials, equipment, parts, outside services, and supplies, including supplier selection, price and delivery negotiations, documentation requirements, and terms of sale.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Production, Sales, Accounting, and suppliers to support timely and compliant procurement of materials, equipment, parts, and services.
  • Oversee requisition and purchase order process, including requirements review, supplier quotations, negotiations, order placement, acknowledgments, and follow-up on commitments.
  • Keep requisitioners and internal stakeholders informed of delivery status, supplier constraints, schedule risks, and changes affecting production or customer commitments.
  • Ensure critical purchases are expedited to maintain production schedules, repair commitments, engineering needs, and customer deliveries.
  • Develop and implement procurement processes, procedures, and controls to standardize purchasing activities, improve supplier accountability, support inventory accuracy, and maintain records.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, pricing, lead times, corrective actions, and supplier scorecards.
  • Analyze purchasing activity, supplier trends, cost drivers, long-lead items, shortages, and slow-moving inventory to support planning and cost-control.

Job Summary:

Summary of Education and Experience:

  • BBA or equivalent from an accredited college or university preferred. Coursework or professional development in supply chain management, procurement, business administration, operations, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience in an electronics manufacturing environment, including at least 3 years supervising personnel or leading procurement-related functions. Experience should include supplier contracts and management, purchase order administration, negotiation, expediting, inventory support, and coordination with production, engineering, quality, and finance.
  • Must possess strong decision-making, negotiation, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead procurement activities in a dynamic manufacturing environment, evaluate supplier performance, manage priorities, support cost and lead-time improvement initiatives. Proficiency in interpreting drawings, specifications, blueprints, data sheets, and purchasing requirements. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing documentation is preferred.
