Job description

From a technical & operational perspective, the Associate Manager is responsible for ensuring the deployment, maintenance, performance, integrity and security of the Oracle database platform , on behalf of the applications relying on it. The Associate Manager is expected to work closely with global counterparts who are responsible for the ownership of the Oracle Technology. Ensure coordinating the team members internally as well as with application Software Reliability Engineers on all aspects relating to Oracle/SQL Security operations, and partners with Research & Development and Product Management counterparts for offering best possible database experience & performances.

The Associate Manager is also accountable for the performance and results of a large -sized team , i nfluenc ing the resources, budget and policy planning , as well as for set ting concrete development plans for the team members. Sh e / He / They contribute(s) to the DBaaS department's strategy based on a broad understanding of her / his / their environment and customer requirements . Exposed to complex decision making , She / He / They w ork ( s ) with a high level of autonomy, based on senior management directions, escalating issues when ever necessary.

Major responsibilities

Is responsible for the stability, operability and compliance (PCIDSS / SOC / ISO27K, vulnerability remediation) of the Oracle database platform, as well as incident resolution and on-call management, in coordination with the Global Oracle team.

Plan the deploy ment of database clusters in coordination with the Global Oracle team according to customer requirements , supporting multi-Terabytes workloads, with a strong emphasis on high - availability and fault - tolerance (including multi-site high-availability , whenever required ).

Work closely with Her / His / Their DBaaS operations, development & product management counterparts , for continuous improvement of the Oracle automation & ecosystem s, based on operational return-of-experience.

Define the vision for the team, in line with DBaaS strategy and operational challenges.

Is accountable for the performance and results the team , influencing resources, budget and policy planning . Set concrete development plans & objectives for the team members.

Contribute(s) actively to the DBaaS department's strategy .

Demonstrate high level of autonomy, based on senior management directions, escalating issues when ever necessary .

Communicates efficiently both within the DBaaS department as well as externally.

Relevant job experiences

8 + years managing software operations in a critical, highly available enterprise environment (24x7) .

3+ years in Team leader / people management position.

Qualification

A Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science , Engineering , or equivalent .

A certification regarding relational database(s) and / or programming would be a plus .

Know how / skills

Multi-year experience with people management.

Field experience in supporting critical production workloads.

Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe ).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proactive mindset in mitigating / avoiding foreseeable issues.

Ability to collaborate with other DBaaS leader s and management counterparts, demonstrate high level of autonomy .

Ability to work in multinational and multicultural environment s .

Experience with Oracle database technologies (19c, 23ai), in Linux environment.

Experience with MySQL (8.0+) would be a plus .

Experience with database automation (Ansible, Python, shell, etc.) would be a plus .

Microsoft Azure experience and / or certification would be a plus .
