Job Summary

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for oversight of operational and/or clinical activities, resource management, productivity and financial analysis, and regulatory compliance. Functions as advisor to unit and administration and sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational and quality results. Collaborates with hospital and department leaders to ensure compliance with applicable legal and accreditation standards within the department. Interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Develops and implements departmental or organizational policies and procedures Supervises staff to ensure accountability and stewardship of operational, clinical, financial, and human resources, in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values of TGH.

  • Identifies and recommends initiatives and programs for assigned area(s).
  • Tracks and assesses the effectiveness of programs and practices and assures that goals and targets are met.
  • Hires, retains, trains, and develops employees who have the appropriate level of job knowledge, skill, and overall fit to the department and to the organization.
  • Communicates job performance expectations and provides performance feedback that facilitates development.
  • Actively champions employee engagement
  • Participates in the department(s) financial performance and operational budget.
  • Analyzes costs, develops programs to assure compliance with budgetary constraints and provides justifications for budget variances
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited college of Pharmacy (PharmD or B.S. Pharm degree) and completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 or PGY-2 residency or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of progressively responsible management experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills/emotional intelligence are critical as well as excellent oral and written communication skills to direct and manage the activities of multiple departments and positively communicate and work with professionals at all levels of the organization.
