Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital seeks a Pharmacy Manager for the Medicine Service Line. The role is full-time, with Monday–Friday schedule and relocation/sign-on benefits. The manager will lead clinical pharmacists and oversee safe medication processing in acute care areas.

Required PharmD, VA license, and 5 years as a clinical pharmacist, plus BLS/ACLS within 90 days. Preferred advanced hospital leadership experience and potential for remote/hybrid opportunities.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited program.
• Five years of experience as a Clinical Pharmacist.
• Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.
• BLS and ACLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports the senior director of pharmacy and the director of operations.
• Mentors and develops a team of clinical pharmacists.
• Provides direction and guidance for safe processing and dispensing of all medications in assigned areas.
• Helps to develop quality improvement initiatives and ensures adherence to quality measures.
• Manages recruitment, training, performance appraisals, payroll, scheduling and staffing; completes inspections of storage areas monthly.

Pharmacy Manager, Medicine Service Line Job Responsibilities:

• Supports the senior director of pharmacy, director of operations, and the acute care pharmacy director.
• Mentors and develops a team of clinical pharmacists.
• Provides direction and guidance for safe processing and dispensing of all medication for assigned areas.
• Helps to develop quality improvement initiatives and ensures adherence to quality measures.
• Manages various personnel functions such as hiring, training, performance appraisals, payroll, scheduling, coaching, rounding, disciplinary actions, and terminations, and adequate Completes and documents inspections of all assigned medication storage areas monthly.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited pharmacy program or equivalent.
• Experience: Five (5) years of experience working as a Clinical Pharmacist.
• Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PGY-1/PGY-2 or 3-5 years of relevant hospital experience Required
• Previous relevant clinical practice or leadership experience preferred.
• Board Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) withing 3 years of hire.
• Master's degree in related healthcare field (MBA, MPH, MHA. MS).
