Job Description
  • − Develop, manage and implement programs and mechanisms that foster a culture of safety (e.g., unit based leadership, leadership safety rounds)
  • − Ensure the organization is improving patient safety in accordance with the National Patient Safety Goals (Joint Commission)
  • − Lead Patient Safety Committee and other safety reporting committees (Med Safety, Radiation Safety, EOC, Med equipment, etc.)
  • − Schedule presentations, draft agendas, report to the board Quality committee
  • − Coordinate and run Root Cause Analysis and track corrective actions
  • − Facilitate the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of corrective actions related to serious and sentinel events
  • − Coordinate and track projects related to patient safety, including failure mode effects analysis
  • − Manage projects to ensure timely completion of reports, analyze data, and develop data reports and displays
  • − Administer Culture of Safety Survey and coordinate action planning
  • − Develop data collection tools and manage data collection for patient safety projects
  • − Gather data from internal and external sources to establish benchmarks and gather lessons learned
  • − Develop patient safety education and conduct training for leadership and staff
  • − Collaborate on producing the Patient Safety Newsletter
  • − Oversee the planning and implementation of the Patient Safety Fair, Good Catch Program, and Daily Safety Checks
Qualifications
  • − Master’s Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
  • − Baccalaureate degree or higher plus 5-10 years of clinical experience in healthcare
  • − Experience in data management and analysis for quality improvement
  • − Proficiency in computer programs (Word, Excel, Access); experience with statistical software a plus
  • − Valid Driver’s License required
  • − RN preferred; Patient Safety Certification or CPPS required (or willing to obtain within one year)
