Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee the department’s operations, ensure safe and compliant point-of-care testing, and drive quality performance. You will partner with nursing, medical staff and administration to support patient care goals and process improvements.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or related field, with 5 years of clinical experience and at least 2 years in supervision; a MBA/MPA is preferred.

Overview:

Under the direction of the Director, the manager oversees departmental operations of the Laboratory. Performs administrative duties including oversight and compliance of point of care testing and affiliated offsite areas. Monitors operations to ensure safe, efficient and quality performance standards for employees, patients and visitors. Collaboration with nursing, administrative, medical and other staff to coordinate patient care activities will be necessary to support the facilities mission statement, achieve customer satisfaction, and identify system problems as opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required
• Master's degree of Business Administration or Health Administration is Preferred

Work Experience

• 5 years of clinical experience, including at least two (2) years with supervisory responsibilities, preferably in an acute care hospital setting is Required
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required

Licenses and Certifications

• Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
• Management of Anatomic Pathology (Cytology/Histology): Certification in histology; certification as a Histotechnologist HTL, Histotechnician HT and/or Cytologist CT by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Required
