Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Manager who will oversee departmental operations under the Director. The role ensures compliant point of care testing and offsite areas while maintaining safety, efficiency and quality across the lab.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Medical Technology, a preferred MBA/Health Admin, and at least 5 years of clinical experience with supervisory responsibilities in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or closely related field is required.
• Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration is preferred.
• 5 years of clinical experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in an acute care hospital, is required.
• Certification in medical technology and ASCP/AMT/AAB or equivalent required for management of Clinical Laboratory and histology/cytology pathways.

Responsibilities

• Oversee departmental operations of the Laboratory under the direction of the Director.
• Ensure compliance of point of care testing and affiliated offsite areas.
• Monitor operations to maintain safe, efficient and quality performance standards.
• Collaborate with nursing, administrative, medical and other staff to support patient care and identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

Education

Work Experience

• 5 years of clinical experience, including at least two (2) years with supervisory responsibilities, preferably in an acute care hospital setting is Required
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required

Licenses and Certifications

• Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
• Management of Anatomic Pathology (Cytology/Histology): Certification in histology; certification as a Histotechnologist HTL, Histotechnician HT and/or Cytologist CT by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Required
