Job summary

MTM Transit is seeking a Manager, Operations in Livermore, CA to lead the transit staff, including drivers, dispatchers, and maintenance, ensuring safe and efficient daily operations within contract requirements.

The role emphasizes staff development, training, and coordination with the client, with a focus on safety and quality passenger experience. A CDL-B with passenger endorsements is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in transit management.
• Experience supervising hourly personnel in a passenger transportation environment.
• CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Drivers, Dispatchers, and operations staff to ensure safe, efficient operation and adherence to contract requirements.
• Conduct monthly Safety meetings and update policies and procedures.
• Train, retrain, and update safety guidelines; manage driver evaluations per contract and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate regularly with client to maintain a positive working relationship and support system upgrades.

What will your job look like?

The Manager, Operations will play a key role in the management, training, and development of transit staff and implementation of short and long-term strategic processes. The Manager, Operations will oversee all aspects of the operations staff, primarily the drivers, maintenance, and dispatch staff to ensure that the daily operations and needs of the client are effective, efficient, and are completed based on contractual requirements. The Manager, Operations will strive to ensure the safest and highest quality transportation experience for our passengers while operating within the budget of the contract.

This position is dependent on the award of contract.

Location: Livermore, CA

Service: The Central Contra Costa Transit Authority

What you’ll do:

• Oversight of Transit Drivers, Dispatchers, and operations employees and their daily performance, to ensure safe, efficient, effective operation, including scheduling, expenditures, attendance and discipline
• Perform monthly Safety meetings
• Training, retraining and updates to policies, procedures and safety guidelines
• Perform Driver evaluations as required by contract, as well as ADA, DOT, and FTA requirements
• Communicate regularly with client to ensure positive productive relationship, and to assist them with updates, information, and system upgrades as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned or required
• Monitor performance of direct reports and provide coaching and guidance

What you’ll need:

Experience, Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a related field
• 5+ years of experience in transit management
• Previous management experience in the Para-Transit or livery industries preferred
• Previous experience working with senior citizens or persons with disabilities
• Experience supervising hourly personnel in a passenger transportation environment
• Experience training in a classroom and behind the wheel setting
• Experience in managing a Union environment preferred
• CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsements

Skills:

• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to understand and administer discipline
• Knowledge of basic safety and training procedures
• Map reading, two-way radio communication and driving experience preferably in a demand responsive service environment
• Capabilities as it relates to data analytics preferred
• Thorough knowledge of ADA, DOT, FTA regulations preferred
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
• Regular attendance is required

Salary Min: $72,000/ annually

Salary Max: $103,000/ annually
