Job summary

General

This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position, that will report to the Director of Security and works closely with the Director of Operations for both Eastern Airlines and Eastern Air Express. This position interacts with Captains, First Officers, the Manager of Flight Operations Training, external vendors that provide security at the Company’s field locations, and at times will interact with the FAA. The Manager of Security is responsible for providing the leadership and oversight necessary to ensure that all employees and vendors are adequately knowledgeable of their security related duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and Eastern’s security related goals. The Manager of Security will act as the Company’s alternate Airport Operations Security Coordinator (AOSC), be responsible to ensure the Company’s Ground Security Coordinators (GSCs) are adequately trained and may work on Transportation Security Administration (TSA) audits as assigned by / and as an alternate for the Director of Security.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Manages the Company’s Ground Security Coordinator program (GSC) and assists with training when necessary;
  • Works with People (HR) to assure the Known Crewmember Database (KCM) is kept up to date and accurate;
  • Manages the Company’s security training program for all employees, contractors, and vendors;
  • Participates in employee new hire orientation to assure proper communication and expectation of the Company’s security related goals;
  • Acts as an alternate Airport Operations Security Coordinator when the primary (Director of Security) is unavailable and may respond to inquiries from the FAA in this role;
  • Works with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as assigned or required in the conduct of audits or other related matters;
  • Manages the Company’s participation in obtaining airport Security Identification (SIDA) badges for appropriate employees, the issuance of Company badges for all employees and contractors, and the issuance of Crew badges to Flight Crews as appropriate;
  • Oversees and manages the flight manifest data in MIS Choice for the Company to ensure compliance with FAA, DOT, and company requirements;
  • Issues notifications and acts as point of contact on charter operations with the TSA as required;
  • Works with the Company’s training department to ensure that all security training is properly documented, and that initial / re-current training is done as required;
  • Maintains availability 24 hours a day / 7 days a week as required to answer security related questions, address security concerns, and to take the lead on security related incidents in the absence of the Director of Security;
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed and / or assigned.

Qualifications

  • The Manager of Security will have detailed knowledge and understanding of the security training requirements for flight crews and all employees as spelled out in DOT, FAA, or Company regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant Aviation field is preferred; high School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in a Flight and / or Airport Operations environment utilizing large turbo aircraft is mandatory; international experience preferred
  • Results oriented with the ability to balance diverse and dynamic operational requirements
  • Prior experience in law enforcement or related discipline is preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities will also include :

1. Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information;

2. Ability to effectively communicate through written, verbal and electronic means;

3. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills;

4. Strong interpersonal skills;

5. Proficient / Intermediate or better skills in MS PowerPoint, Excel and MS Office Suite;

6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;

7. Ability to work under minimal supervision; exercises independent good judgment, appropriate discretion, and takes initiative;

8. Self-motivated and independent problem-solving ability;

9. Ability to travel out of state if needed.

  • Must be able to pass a two (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC)
