Job Description:

The Municipality of Grandview is seeking an experienced, motivated, and community-minded professional to join our team as Manager of Public Works.

This is a senior-level supervisory position responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operations of the Municipality’s Public Works Department and unionized Public Works staff. Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Manager of Public Works will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for the maintenance, operation, repair, and improvement of municipal infrastructure and services. Wage starts at$75,004.80/year or $36.06/hour in a six step pay band.

The Manager of Public Works is responsible for ensuring that municipal infrastructure and services are maintained in a safe, reliable, efficient, and serviceable condition to meet the needs of the community.

The position oversees a broad range of municipal operations, including:

• Municipal roadways, sidewalks, and drainage infrastructure
• Water and sewer distribution systems
• Urban and rural water treatment facilities
• Wastewater collection and treatment systems and sewage lagoon
• Municipal buildings and facilities
• Parks, mowing, landscaping, and grounds maintenance
• Municipal equipment, tools, and fleet
• Signage and related infrastructure
• Seasonal and emergency Public Works operations

The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who is organized, accountable, and able to effectively work with municipal staff, Council, residents, contractors, suppliers, engineers, regulatory agencies, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, supervision, direction, and support to Public Works staff.

• Coordinate the maintenance, repair, and operation of municipal infrastructure, equipment, and facilities.
• Identify infrastructure deficiencies, operational needs, and opportunities for improvement and bring recommendations forward to the CAO.
• Assist the CAO with long-term planning, capital projects, infrastructure priorities, budgeting, and asset management.
• In conjunction with the CAO, develop and implement Public Works plans, policies, and procedures, including work order management, road maintenance, and asset management.
• Monitor and coordinate Public Works projects and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to expected standards.
• Maintain appropriate records, reports, inspections, work orders, and operational documentation.
• Respond to operational issues, emergencies, and after-hours Public Works requirements as necessary.
• Foster a respectful and positive workplace that supports teamwork, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
