Duties include, but are not limited to, supervise and manage daily operations of the Public Works Department (Streets, Water, Sanitary Sewer, Storm Sewer, and Facilities Management); assist in the preparation of the department's annual budget; conduct analyses, prepare management reports, and make recommendations to City Council and the City Administrator; review budget line items to ensure expenditures align with the established budget; participate in personnel management, including employee selection, performance evaluation, and addressing complaints; respond to public inquiries and complaints, making independent recommendations for resolution.
Qualified applicants are expected to have experience with budgeting, planning, and managing public works projects. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to address emergency situations and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Qualified applicants for this position should have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred). Minimum of five (5) years of municipal experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Thorough knowledge of public works principles, maintenance, and utility management. Cross-functional experience in Finance and Human Resources is a plus. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to manage people and projects. Must pass a drug test and background check.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 with an expected starting salary to be commensurate with experience.
