Job description

This role leads a team of Project Engineers, overseeing all project engineering activities for capital projects within a manufacturing environment. The position focuses on driving safe, reliable, and efficient operations by managing the design, planning, and execution of projects, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and engineering specifications. Responsibilities include supervising engineers and contractors, leading multidisciplinary teams, managing project scope, schedules, and budgets, and overseeing capital spending plans and forecasts. The role also plays a key part in technical evaluations, Management of Change (MOC) processes, and long-term strategic planning, while developing team capabilities and supporting operational goals.

Qualifications Summary

Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, along with at least 10 years of engineering experience and 5+ years in project execution within a nitrogen fertilizer plant, chemical facility, or refinery.

Prior experience leading or supervising engineering teams is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in capital project management (typically over $5M), including scope development, estimating, and execution, as well as experience managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors.

A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset. Strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects and teams are essential for success in this role.
