Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Manager of Perceived Quality to own the customer-facing look, feel and sound of our electric vehicles. You will translate subjective impressions into engineering specs and lead a team delivering rigorous quality across programs.

You will collaborate across Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Purchasing and Operations, reporting to executive leadership and driving cosmetic and material quality from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline required.
• 5–7+ years in Craftsmanship or Perceived Quality at a global automaker.
• 3+ years of leadership or cross-functional team experience.
• Deep knowledge of vehicle appearance, fit and finish, materials, haptics and perceived quality.
• Working knowledge of tolerance stack analysis and GD&T.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong statistical awareness of quality metrics.
• Experience writing cosmetic or craftsmanship standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set Perceived Quality targets for crafted quality and material quality.
• Benchmark competitor vehicles to set design criteria and BoD requirements.
• Review BoD and design sketches to build craftsmanship from the start.
• Publish cosmetic quality standards for each vehicle program.
• Own a master deck of specifications for every visible part interface.
• Lead interface maturation and deliver characteristics into program master sections.
• Run virtual cosmetic risk assessments in CAD and perform dimensional analysis.
• Turn requirements into a detailed build standard for production.
• Lead issue discovery and resolution on prototypes and support launches.
• Track performance against targets with metrics and report to leadership.
• Hire and develop Perceived Quality engineers and plan resources.

Bachelor's degree in engineering
