Job summary

The School District of Philadelphia seeks a Manager, Multilingual Programs to oversee English Language Learner (ELL) instruction and compliance across regions. You will collaborate with school, regional, and central staff to accelerate ELL students’ academic access, align ESOL/bilingual practices with research-based methods, and engage parents and communities.

You will lead professional development, ensure policy adherence, and direct language allocation initiatives to promote equity and program

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of full-time, paid, professional appointed classroom or site-based teaching experience in ESOL or bilingual programs which has involved developing and implementing instructional programs for ELLs and has included supporting teachers and administrators in improving ELL instructional practices through site-based or centrally based professional development.
• Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania administrative certificate (K-12) and ESL Program Specialist certificate.
• The candidate must ensure that all of their relevant work experience is reflected on their resume prior to the submission of their application for District employment

Responsibilities

• Coordinates professional development for teachers and administrators.
• Assists in the creation and delivery of professional development and training for ESOL teachers, bilingual teachers, schools and region-based groups.
• Assists schools and regions in accessing both internal and external resources for implementing effective instructional practices.
• Oversees, coordinates, and monitors ELL programs; monitors the implementation of new and existing programs and initiatives designed to address the needs of schools and students.
• Ensures the implementation of programs and practices that support the goals and objectives of the District.
• Ensures equity, accountability, and transparency in school allocations, implementation and maintenance of ELL instructional initiatives and programs.
• Develops and directs effective, research-based implementation of language allocation policies for bilingual programs.
• Ensures continuity and rigor in all ESOL and bilingual programs.
