Job description

O&G Industries HR is a tight-knit, high-performing team that works with urgency, emotional intelligence and a deep sense of ownership. We set an exceptionally high bar for ourselves and seek someone who is energized by playing an integral role on our team - bringing curiosity and a drive to get things done at the highest level. This is an on-site role and is located at the corporate office in Torrington.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable navigating the crosscurrents of HR—balancing employee needs, business priorities, leadership expectations, compliance, risk, and culture while maintaining sound judgment and strong relationships.

In your cover letter, tell us what motivates you, how you like to work and what you believe you bring to our HR team - we are interested in how you think, how you approach complexity, and what makes you effective as an HR professional.

Manager of Human Resources:

This new role is a successor-development opportunity as part of our leadership planning efforts. The position is intended to develop a future HR executive capable of assuming broader leadership responsibilities over time.

We seek an HR generalist who can build trusted partnerships across the organization, influence business outcomes, and help advance O&G’s strategic objectives while preserving the values and culture that have contributed to O&G's longstanding success. This highly visible management position reports directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer.

Serve as the CHRO’s primary deputy, working collaboratively with the CHRO to provide depth and continuity across ERISA, employee benefits, performance, and compensation management. The role supports ownership, executive leadership, and workforce culture within a complex, safety-sensitive construction environment.

  • Collaborate with the CHRO and ownership on the strategy, design, and administration of all employee benefit programs, including medical, retirement (DB/DC), wellness, and leave and return to work programs
  • Partner with the CHRO and CFO as an ERISA fiduciary, supporting governance, documentation, audits, plan corrections, and vendor management
  • Engage collaboratively with owners and executive leadership on sensitive workforce, compliance, and risk-related matters
  • Support and reinforce workforce culture initiatives aligned with safety, accountability, performance, leadership capabilities, and operational excellence
  • Collaborate with business leaders to improve performance management and talent development
  • Mentor and develop emerging HR talent in coordination with the CHRO to strengthen internal team and succession readiness

The ideal candidate is a highly credible HR professional who combines strategic thinking with practical execution. This individual is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing complex workforce issues, and building strong relationships at all levels within O&G.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field required
  • Master's degree and/or SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, or related certification preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant leadership responsibility
  • Experience supporting multi-site and a field-based workforce
  • Compliance experience working in a regulated industry preferred (OFCCP, CHRO, CTDOT, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of but not limited to ERISA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA/wage and hour, labor relations, benefits compliance, compensation, and employment law
  • Experience supporting executive leadership teams and advising senior business leaders on -site - this is not a remote and/or hybrid work role
Leadership Characteristics
  • High integrity and sound judgment
  • Calm, steady, and effective under pressure
  • Strong executive presence and credibility
  • Low ego, high accountability, and team-oriented
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without relying on authority
  • Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves
  • Proven track record navigating audits, investigations, litigation, organizational change, and complex workforce challenges

We value strong organization, thoughtful collaboration, and genuine investment in team success. Honest, kind, and direct communication is central to how we work and grow together.
