Job summary

The TJX Companies, Inc. in Marlborough, MA seeks a seasoned Manager of Freight Payment to lead the freight payment operations. You will partner with Logistics Finance and Accounting to ensure accurate budgeting, invoicing, and timely payments.

You will manage staff development, enforce policies, and drive improvements in invoicing, accruals, and reporting while building strong carrier relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting/Finance/Business Mgmt.
• 3-5 years in audit, payables, transportation/logistics at a manager level.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day Freight Payment activities with cross-functional teams.
• Set, monitor, and enforce department policies and goals.
• Analyze dashboards and analytics to measure performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve invoice processing, payments, and reporting; recommend system changes.
• Prepare and present research, reporting, and results in virtual and in-person settings.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key transportation carriers.
• Manage staff development and growth within the department.
• Coach staff on performance issues.
• Support for special projects and system upgrades.

The Manager of Freight Payment leads and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Freight Payment team, ensuring the department operates efficiently and effectively while providing leadership and guidance to associates. The role partners closely with Logistics Finance and Accounting on freight accruals and payments to support accurate budgeting and forecasting, and provides senior leadership with reporting and analysis to inform business decisions and financial planning.

• Work cross-functionally with the Logistics organization, Logistics Finance, Accounting, and Expenses Payable to ensure efficient, accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.
• Set, monitor, and enforce department policies, procedures, and goals.
• Analyze dashboards and other analytics to measure and improve performance.
• Continually identify opportunities to drive improvement with invoice processing, payments, and reporting, and recommends system changes when appropriate.
• Ability to prepare and present research, reporting, and results in both a virtual and in-person setting.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with key transportation carriers.
• Manages staff to develop them for future growth within the department and organization.
• Coaches and counsels’ staff on individual performance issues.
• Provide support for special projects, business initiatives and system upgrades, as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management, or equivalent job experience
• 3-5 years of audit, payables, transportation/logistics, or equivalent experience at a manager level

This position has a starting salary range of USD $117,000.00 to $152,100.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
