You will help commercialize a new, low-loss, power semiconductor architecture. As part of the Engineering team, you will own device design, optimization, fabrication, testing, manufacturing scale-up, reliability, and long-term technology planning while working closely with third-party wafer fabricators.
You will join a company developing power semiconductor solutions for electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, renewable energy, energy storage, UPS and data center systems, solid-state circuit breakers, and other industrial applications. The role is based in Arizona, United States, and is onsite.
About the Role
You will help commercialize a new, low-loss, power semiconductor architecture in a hands-on, pioneering role, with ownership spanning design through manufacturing scale-up and technology planning within a fast-moving power semiconductor startup.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with third-party wafer fabricators to identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements.
- Lead device design improvements informed by semiconductor simulations and device testing.
- Conduct semiconductor simulations using Silvaco or Synopsis TCAD.
- Oversee mask layouts and apply semiconductor design best practices.
- Manage prototype and volume semiconductor fabrication development projects.
- Coordinate development lots, including split plans and trial routes.
- Perform or coordinate electrical characterization and physical analysis of test structures.
- Analyze device, foundry, probe, and functional test data to optimize yield and performance.
- Contribute to technology and product roadmaps, milestones, and development priorities.
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or solid-state physics.
- Five to ten years of experience in power semiconductor technology development.
Required Skills
- Thorough knowledge of power semiconductor topologies, especially MOSFETs, IGBTs, and BJTs.
- Deep understanding of silicon and silicon carbide device physics, fundamental behavior, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong working knowledge of advanced wafer fabrication techniques and processes.
- Hands‑on experience with laboratory equipment and semiconductor characterization.
- Experience analyzing device data and test structures to optimize design and performance.
- Familiarity with power device packaging, manufacturability, and related best practices.
- Strong conceptual thinking, quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify performance, manufacturing, testing, and reliability concerns.
- Experience coordinating development lots, fabrication activities, testing, and process improvement.
- Familiarity with Silvaco or Synopsis TCAD simulation tools.
- Application knowledge across electric vehicles, variable-frequency drives, industrial systems, renewable energy, or UPS systems.
- Knowledge of buck, boost, and inverter power conversion topologies.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of JMP for foundry process and probe data analysis is advantageous.
