Salary Range: $44.93 To $58.01 Annually

Purpose of Position

The Day Shelter Manager will manage the operations of the Day Shelter, including directing assigned employees, demonstrating leadership, providing work direction, motivation, training, assistance, and performance evaluations. The manager will lead coordinating support and advocacy services for Day Shelter guests, monitor the health, safety, and security of the shelter environment, and create a welcoming, inclusive, and compassionate living environment for guests.

Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions
  • Perform leadership functions including selection, scheduling, training, performance management and discipline; Instill passion in assigned staff for NSHC’s mission, vision, and values
  • Demonstrate personal initiative and accountability while overseeing the department's budget; Forecast needs, allocate resources and/or take corrective action as necessary
  • Ensure adequate staff coverage, coordinate service delivery such as meals and maintain compliance with relevant policies and procedures
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of physical safety in the shelter as evidenced by weekly inspection reports, accident reports, and compliance with all safety regulations
  • Develop, monitor and maintain processes and systems for effective communication and exceptional customer service, including coordination with NSHC and other outside agencies.
  • Manage staff so that staff is available for client transport as needed for clients to access care and other services.
  • Design programs to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, and improve daily living skills.
  • Provide cultural activities, in-Shelter presentations, and adequate scheduled Coaches on-site to lead programs
  • Implement special prevention and intervention programs for the region that will include, but not limited to Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment screening, Medication-Assisted Treatment, life skills training, and Substance Use Disorder Program or other group programming
  • Complete administrative program requirements: timecards, purchasing supplies, quarterly reports, performance reviews, participate in hiring process for Day Shelter staff, and any grant-related reporting.
  • Refer and coordinate with guests to services they may need and offer supportive interventions as needed.
  • Coordinate with other Clinical Associates and providers to provide advocacy and networking services for consumers including Medicaid enrollment
  • Pursue training opportunities and engage in continuing education to complete training and demonstrated competencies.
  • Provide back up to janitorial and housekeeping staff when needed
  • In coordination with the Administrative Director, develop and implement strategies to open an after-hours Sobering Center
  • Perform other duties as assigned
