Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers is seeking a Manager of Clinical Solutions to lead clinical reporting and analytics under the VPIS. You will oversee Epic reporting, manage the IS team related to clinical solutions, and collaborate on training, governance, and security.

You will design and validate reports, optimize Power BI and Crystal Reporting usage, and mentor Epic Analysts and Trainers to deliver reliable insights across clinical operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience with hosted EPIC or top EMR solution required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • At least 5 years of related experience, including 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Healthcare setting experience beneficial.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools required.

Job description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Manager of Clinical solutions will work under the leadership of the Vice President of Information Systems and will have responsibilities for team management, project management and data analyst reporting activities. The Manager of Clinical Solutions will work alongside the Director of Information Systems to support and optimize Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers’ information technology structure and to maximize the benefit these solutions can provide. This role will act as the primary resource to provide operational reporting from the Epic system. Skills required will include custom SQL and Crystal Reporting as well as Power BI design and support to effectively meet the needs of this area. The Clinical Solution Manager also provides guidance and oversight to the Epic Systems Analysts and Epic Training resources in this team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Department Management
  • Assist the Vice President of Information Systems (VPIS) in managing the IS department budget by providing input into all clinical solutions needs for the organization, especially related to the Electronic Health Record.
  • Maintain a relationship with the strategic business partners and along with the VPIS.
  • Work within the leadership structure of IS and SSCHC to examine and recommend potential improvements, including the introduction of clinical AI tools that impact clinical operations.
  • Assist the VP of IS in the oversight of the IS team members as required to ensure alignment of behaviors and data management to HIPAA regulations as well as Cyber Security practices protecting SSCHC patient information and privacy.
  • Manage the IS staff who support the Electronic Health Record, including the Epic System Analysts, Data Reporting Analysts, and EHR Trainers. The management activities include, but are not limited to:
    • Promote the highest possible EMR end-user support system with available staff.
    • Enhance communication between the different facets of the clinical solutions team along with other IS staff.
    • Promote the development of staff by pursuing educational offerings or mentoring situations.
    • Complete performance evaluations of assigned staff.
    • Monitor staff schedules, which include vacation and sick time.
    • Ensure collaboration between assigned staff and other IS team members to ensure learning and skillsets are maximized to create greatest value for SSCHC
  • Assist with departmental and organizational communication for any major Epic changes and/or downtimes.
  • Collaborate with other IS or Sixteenth Street leaders when there are issues, training needs, or process improvement opportunities for clinical applications.
  • Develop documentation, along with the clinical solutions team, of internal workflows or processes used to manage the Electronic Health Record.
  • Optimize end user training to enhance digital literacy and effective use of SSCHC technology solution through ongoing support and desk side training.
  • Leverage the helpdesk system used by both SSCHC and our EMR partner to examine trends and develop root cause analysis to aid in development of user support tool sets to improve productivity of staff when using technology-based solutions.
  • Work with the VP of IS to develop a succession planning and cross-training approach within the team to address growth and development of staff as well as resiliency within the team to minimize the impact of changes within IS for SSCHC operations.
  • Work in conjunction with the VP of IS and the Leadership Team to provide feedback to our EMR hosting partner to grow and improve the partnership where possible.
Data and Report Analysis
  • Design, test, and implement reports from the clinical applications as requested. The workload of report development to be shared with the other data reporting analyst(s) when resources exist.
  • Work in partnership as required with the Financial Reporting Analysts.
  • Analyze data and reports that have been developed by themself or by others in the organization to ensure accuracy as well as appropriate data source usage.
  • Optimize the use of existing analytic and reporting tools which include custom SQL and Crystal Reporting as well as Power BI to effectively meet the needs of SSCHC.
  • Initiate training and staff-focused activities designed to improve the skillsets of clinic staff as well as other IT staff to use native tools within Epic such as Reporting Workbench (RWB) and Slicer Dicer to create a more self-sufficient approach to data analysis.
  • Where possible work to ensure the use of native reporting from the EMR vs creation of custom reporting to help to ensure the long-term viability of reporting toolsets as the EMR is updated and upgraded.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience within an organization utilizing hosted EPIC or a top 5 EMR solution required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of related experience, including 2 years supervisory experience required.
  • Significant experience in a health care setting. Clinical role or Quality role experience beneficial but not required.
  • Proficiency in the use of data analysis tools required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal, is required.
  • Must be detail oriented.
