TCH Medical Center in Houston, TX is hiring a Manager of Inpatient Nursing - PICU. This role maintains shift accountability for clinical and personnel activities and supports the Assistant Clinical Director.

The Manager participates in delivering high-quality, family-centered, developmentally appropriate care at the unit level and leads nursing excellence across the unit. Respiratory fit testing is required for all successful candidates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
  • RN license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact is required.
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association is required.
  • Certification in a specialty area or nursing leadership with completion within 1 year is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience is required.
  • Pediatric Critical Care Nursing experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains clinical competency and meets physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs in a family-centered environment.
  • Monitors patient throughput to ensure safe, high-quality, efficient care.
  • Collaborates with the health care team to meet patient care needs and communicates effectively; acts as liaison among physicians, families, nursing staff, and ancillary departments.
  • Observes and addresses human resources issues; coaches and develops nursing staff to ensure high-quality care.
  • Monitors staffing and resources to align with patient care needs.
  • Supports unit goals and communicates the organization’s strategic plan to staff.
  • Participates in unit-based quality initiatives to monitor clinical outcomes and nursing excellence.

We’re searching for a Manager of Inpatient Nursing - PICU, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will maintain shift accountability for clinical and personnel activities and provide support to the Assistant Clinical Director.

The Manager of Inpatient Nursing participates in the delivery of high quality, family-centered, and developmentally appropriate patient care at the unit level.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains clinical competency by ensuring that the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the patient are met within a family-centered care environment.
  • Monitors and facilitates patient throughput to ensure the delivery of safe quality and efficient care.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with patient care needs with appropriate members of the healthcare team to achieve desired clinical outcomes and management of care across the continuum. Demonstrates effective communication skills with the health care team and work to eliminate communication barriers. Serves as a liaison between physicians, families, nursing staff, and ancillary departments.
  • Observes, identifies, and addresses human resources issues for assigned staff. Coaches, counsels, and develops nursing staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Monitors productivity and assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs.
  • Supports the implementation of unit goals and communication of the organization’s strategic plan to staff.
  • Participates in unit-based quality initiatives for the purpose of developing and monitoring clinical outcomes that demonstrate nursing excellence.
Skills & Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing (BSN) required
  • RN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact required
  • BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association required
  • Certification in specialty-specific area or nursing leadership, with completion of certification within 1 year of assuming the role preferred
  • 2 years Nursing experience required
  • Pediatric Critical Care Nursing Experience Highly Preferred
