POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager – Licensing & Compliance is responsible for leading strategic initiatives and providing expertise to internal and external stakeholders related to licensing and compliance matters pertaining to the Trean Insurance Group, its affiliated entities, and its employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process Management. Develop and manage processes and procedures for the compliance team, incorporating efficiencies wherever possible. Oversee system for tracking and maintaining professional corporate and insurance licenses for all entities. Maintain summary matrix and visual representations of all licenses by Company.
- People Management. Manage compliance professionals specializing in corporate and insurance licensing. Review and delegate incoming work to staff as necessary; monitor quality and productivity; and coordinate mentoring, cross-training, professional development, and business continuity.
- Relationship Management. Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance departments, external vendors, and internal staff (Accounting, Regulatory & Products, Legal Operations, Partner Relations, etc.) to understand their needs, gather feedback, and facilitate solutions to complex licensing and compliance issues.
- Strategic Footprint. Research, monitor, and communicate regarding the legislative and compliance environment; emerging threats, risks, and opportunities; and trends found amongst data. Inform decisions on real estate, licensing, and TPAs. Support strategic growth initiatives while eliminating unnecessary costs and maintaining compliance for all owned and managed entities.
- Escalated Issues. Promptly resolve and/or escalate issues to senior management when appropriate, including administrative actions and licensing deficiencies.
- Professional Development. Continually improve technical skills through ongoing professional development.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree with 10-15 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a working knowledge of insurance laws and regulations relevant to licensing and compliance procedures.
- Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend solutions in a dynamic environment
- Ability to present to internal and external parties in a pleasant, professional manner and enhance the appeal and reputation of the Company as a knowledgeable and service-oriented organization
- Advanced computer skills including expertise in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, & Salesforce
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence others at all levels on key decisions
- Proven ability to foster a collaborative and productive environment within a team and across the organization
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and communicate progress to stakeholders
- Experience developing and monitoring meaningful metrics
