Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, FL seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to lead the Laboratory Administration team. The role focuses on compiling monthly, quarterly, and annual quality reports, reviewing Critical Value reports, and ensuring data accuracy across quality measures.

Qualifications include Florida-licensed Lab Supervisor eligibility, 3–5 years as a supervisor or Medical Technologist III, and licensure commensurate education.

Responsibilities

• Compiles monthly, quarterly and annual quality reports.
• Reviews Critical Value reports and forwards actionable items to the appropriate manager for review.
• Tabulates reports that impact laboratory quality reporting for the administrative director and medical director.
• Reviews incident reports and includes in quality measures.
• Recommends changes to meet CAP Laboratory General checklist standards.
• Assists with the Pathology teaching program and provides lectures as needed.
• Supports planning for facility improvements and new construction.
• Provides consultant support as needed.
• Ensures data is updated in shared drives for tracking and access.
• Represents the department at Ethics and Compliance and Patient Safety committees.

Job Description Summary:

Position Responsibilities

• Compiles monthly, quarterly and annual quality reports.
• Reviews Critical Value reports and forwards actionable items to the appropriate manager for review.
• Tabulates reports that impact laboratory quality reporting for the administrative director and medical director.
• Reviews incident reports and includes in quality measures.
• Conducts quarterly billing audits, reviews medicare denials and reports to both the director and Ethics and Compliance committee.
• Assists with CAP Laboratory General checklist review and recommends changes to meet standards.
• Assists with the Pathology teaching program, providing lectures and education as needed.
• Assists with planning for facility improvements as well as any new construction as requested.
• Is available as a consultant as needed.
• Ensures that all data is updated in shared drive to ensure tracking and access as needed to interested parties.
• Reviews PT Surveys and evaluates ungraded results and SDI’s to identify issues with quantitative assays at the request of the director.
• Represents the department at the Ethics and Compliance Committee, and Patient Safety committee as well as other hospital teams that require laboratory expertise.
• Is available to assist with management coverage as possible in the absence of the director.
• Is available to assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

License/Registration/Certification

• Licensed as a Lab Supervisor or eligible by the State of Florida preferred.
