Job summary

Vanguard’s International Product Engineering (IPE) leads a global engineering effort, delivering shared platforms and services that scale across regions. The Manager, IT Delivery oversees delivery, operations, and modernization for mission-critical systems enabling client experiences worldwide.

You will partner with architects, product managers, and security teams to guide decisions and drive cloud adoption while ensuring reliability and security across Vanguard’s international platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years technology experience including 3-5 years leading engineering teams or delivery organizations.
• Experience with cloud-native environments, preferably AWS.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership in cross-functional initiatives.
• Familiarity with API gateways, platform engineering, microservices, and modern cloud architectures.
• Experience with AI-enabled solutions is a plus.

International Product Engineering (IPE) enables Vanguard's global businesses to scale through shared technology solutions built once and leveraged across multiple regions and business lines. Supporting Personal Investor, Financial Advisor, and Institutional businesses across Europe, Canada, Australia, Mexico, and the Americas, IPE delivers strategic platforms, shared services, and digital capabilities that drive growth, operational efficiency, and exceptional client experiences.

The Manager, IT Delivery leads a high-performing engineering organization responsible for a portfolio of mission-critical shared services and platforms that support Vanguard's international businesses. This role oversees engineering delivery, platform operations, modernization initiatives, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities across technologies supporting external client authentication, API management, identity services, investment data distribution, advisor enablement, and global digital experiences.

The successful leader will bring a unique blend of technical fluency, operational leadership, stakeholder management, and people leadership. While hands-on software development is not required, this individual must be comfortable partnering with architects, engineers, security teams, and senior technology leaders to guide critical technology decisions, manage risk, and ensure the reliability and scalability of essential platforms that support clients and business partners globally.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers and contractors supporting strategic international platforms while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
• Provide day-to-day leadership across engineering delivery, operational support, talent development, workforce planning, and team performance management.
• Own delivery outcomes, platform health, operational excellence, and service resiliency across a portfolio of business-critical applications and infrastructure platforms.
• Serve as the team's Agile delivery leader by facilitating planning, prioritization, sprint execution, impediment removal, and continuous improvement activities.
• Partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, Enterprise Security & Fraud, CTO, and regional business stakeholders to align technology investments with strategic business objectives.
• Drive platform modernization initiatives focused on cloud adoption, scalability, resiliency, observability, automation, and operational maturity.
• Establish and monitor delivery, reliability, and service-health metrics while proactively identifying and mitigating operational, technical, and delivery risks.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise technology standards, security requirements, risk controls, audit expectations, and applicable regulatory obligations.
• Lead complex stakeholder engagements across regional and enterprise organizations, effectively communicating roadmaps, priorities, risks, delivery progress, and operational performance.
• Champion opportunities to leverage shared services, platform reuse, AI-enabled capabilities, and emerging technologies to accelerate Vanguard's international growth strategy.
• Support strategic workforce planning and roadmap development to ensure appropriate staffing, skill alignment, and investment prioritization across initiatives.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum eight years of technology experience, including three to five years leading engineering teams, technology portfolios, or delivery organizations.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams responsible for critical platforms, shared services, infrastructure, APIs, or enterprise technology ecosystems.
• Strong technical fluency with the ability to engage architects, engineers, and technology leaders in solution design, platform strategy, and engineering decisions without being a day-to-day software developer.
• Experience supporting cloud-native environments, with AWS experience strongly preferred.
• Understanding of API gateways, platform engineering, distributed systems, microservices, identity solutions, and modern cloud architectures.
• Experience leading Agile teams and managing complex delivery roadmaps across multiple stakeholder groups and workstreams.
• Proven people leadership experience with success developing talent, coaching high-performing teams, and building inclusive team cultures.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to navigate highly visible initiatives involving numerous business and technology partners. The role regularly requires engagement across a broad network of stakeholders supporting international products and critical platforms.
• Experience with Kong Gateway, API management platforms, authentication services, or other critical infrastructure platforms strongly preferred.
• Experience with AI-enabled solutions or emerging technology initiatives highly preferred.
• Financial services, investment management or enterprise shared-services experience preferred.
