Job summary

OPERS in Downtown Columbus, Ohio seeks an experienced Manager – Investment Accounting to lead a team handling accounting, margining and reporting for a large investment portfolio, including private assets. You will ensure timely period-end closes and accurate financial reporting while coordinating with Investment Operations.

Ideal candidates hold a CPA, MBA preferred, with 7+ years in accounting or investments and supervisory experience; derivative margining experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with MBA preferred.
• CPA license is required; additional certifications are strongly preferred (CIPM, CTP, CAIA, CFA).
• 7+ years in Accounting, Operations, or Investment Performance with 2+ years in supervision.
• Month-end and year-end close experience with high quality standards.
• Derivative margining experience preferred; compliance with Personal Trading Policy.

Manager - Investment Accounting – Downtown Columbus, Ohio

What you’ll do

The Manager – Investment Accounting is responsible for a team performing accounting, margining and reporting activities for a large and complex investment portfolio including private alternative investments. The manager oversees all functions related to cash settlement, margining and financial reporting, including the period-end close and financial reporting. This manager works with the Manager - Investment Operations to resolve any issues that would impact investment reporting.

What you’ll bring

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with an MBA preferred
• 7 years of experience in Accounting, Operations, or Investment Performance with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license is required and additional relevant certifications are strongly preferred (CIPM, CTP, CAIA, CFA).
• Month-end and Year-end close experience with demonstrated ability to maintain the highest quality standards while meeting all deadlines
• Derivative Margining experience strongly preferred.
• Must be able to comply with the OPERS Personal Trading Policy
