Job description

Position Summary

The Inventory Manager is responsible for maintaining a perpetual record integrity to ensure inventory accuracy within the facility while maximizing space utilization. The Inventory Manager monitors inventory levels, product movement, and controls non‑conforming product (damage) as defined by local and work instructions. The manager ensures a conforming product mix that facilitates efficient order fulfillment and oversees the functions performed by inventory associates and other staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Input data accurately into WMS.
  • Efficiently stack and store product in the appropriate area.
  • Maintain and enhance client relationships.
  • Develop and implement space utilization plans to meet prescribed cost and service standards.
  • Develop and monitor space layout plans to maintain company standards.
  • Develop and implement an effective product locator system and update as necessary.
  • Delegate work and responsibility to subordinates.
  • Oversee scheduled shifts and evaluate the performance of inventory staff and subordinates.
  • Analyze daily cycle counts and reconcile any discrepancies between physical count and perpetual record.
  • Audit daily error reports and make corrections as necessary.
  • Analyze and publish monthly data from WMS reports indicating monthly and year‑to‑date totals of cycle‑count dollar variances.
  • Analyze material transactions (in/outs) for validity relative to product structure.
  • Analyze miscellaneous receipts and issues and take corrective action as appropriate.
  • Act as distribution leader for physical inventory.
  • Gain complete knowledge of the online Inventory Audit Trail to facilitate research toward corrective action.
  • Drive process improvements and prepare monthly reports on major problems and project updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., transit reports, shipping adjustments).
  • Assist with associate relations and training.
  • Audit warehouse daily for compliance with safety, security, and quality principles and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Transmit e‑mails to DSV representatives and clients when required, write corrective/preventive actions, complete reports for operations manager, follow up with attendance reports, write counseling memos, and perform evaluations.
  • Conduct daily startup meetings, encouraging associate feedback and teamwork, coordinating operations with management to ensure daily objectives are met.
  • Provide good communication and motivational techniques, ensuring all company rules are followed.
  • Provide management with information regarding labor/equipment needs to meet customer demands and develop team leaders.
Other Duties (Site Specific)
  • Assist management as needed.
  • Work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required.
  • Participate in established cross‑training matrix activities to improve knowledge in multiple areas and serve as a backup associate when needed.
  • Work overtime as dictated by business, whether mandatory or voluntary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Partner with leadership team to communicate policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for inventory leads, associates, and CSR within the department.
  • Ensure training and development for associates’ knowledge of product placement and equipment usage.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • 4 years of distribution/logistics experience.
  • 2 years working in a supervisory role in a logistics or distribution environment.
  • Ability to operate MHE and work in unregulated temperatures.
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
  • English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency.
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities and inventory counts.
  • Trained and/or certified in inventory management methodologies and tools such as SixSigma and Lean.
  • Strong planning, organizational, problem‑solving, communication, and continuous‑improvement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, and support project team members.
  • Analytical and results‑oriented mindset with a “can‑do” attitude and sense of urgency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in a 3PL environment.
  • Current or prior MHE certification.
  • Ability to operate Electric Pallet Jack and Dock Loader (Pacer) when needed.
Physical Demands

Occasionally handling/fingering, sitting, bending, walking, standing, lifting and carrying 21–50 pounds, and reaching above shoulder or outward, including squatting or kneeling. Constantly performing tasks that require walking, standing, and lifting capacities.

Work Environment

The work environment is typically low to moderate noise. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals is rare. The expected base pay range is $86,000.00 – $106,000.00 Annual. Compensation is based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
