Job summary

CDW is seeking a Manager, Infrastructure Operations & Identity Management to lead a team responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of critical enterprise infrastructure platforms, with a hands-on technical leadership style.

The role requires strong experience with Windows and Linux servers, storage, certificates, IAM tools, and ITIL processes, driving 24x7 reliability while balancing strategic priorities and ongoing improvements. Remote / Hybrid in Evanston, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers and administrators.
  • Establish accountability, prioritize workload, and ensure timely completion of operational activities.
  • Windows and Linux servers.
  • Storage platforms.
  • Certificate management.
  • Core operating system administration.
  • Oversee server lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patching, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Ensure timely resolution of service requests, incidents, and operational issues.
  • Lead change management activities in accordance with ITIL best practices, including peer reviews and risk assessments.
  • Drive incident, problem, and root cause management processes to improve service reliability and reduce recurring issues.
  • Maintain operational readiness in a 24x7 environment, including on‑call support processes and escalation management.
  • Partner with security, engineering and architecture teams to ensure infrastructure stability, compliance and performance.
  • Support IAM platforms and related operational processes while maintaining a primary focus on infrastructure operations.
  • Develop and report on operational metrics, team performance, service levels and continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: Remote / Hybrid in Evanstaon, IL

Long term CDW Contract role / 40 hours per week

CDW is seeking a Manager, Infrastructure Operations & Identity Management to lead a team responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of critical enterprise infrastructure platforms. This role requires a hands-on technical leader with deep experience managing Windows and Linux servers, storage, certificates, system administration, and infrastructure operations, along with exposure to Identity & Access Management (IAM) tools and processes.

The ideal candidate is a proven people manager who can drive operational excellence, ensure accountability across the team, and lead a highly available 24x7 environment while balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day operational demands.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure operations, systems administration, or enterprise IT operations.
  • 3+ years of people management experience leading technical infrastructure teams.
  • Strong hands‑on experience managing:
  • Enterprise storage solutions
  • System administration functions
  • Experience supporting or administering IAM technologies and access management processes.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Server upgrades and migrations
  • Patch management
  • Change management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem‑solving and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ITIL Foundation or higher certification.
  • Experience leading teams supporting mission‑critical, highly available environments.
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructure platforms.
  • Knowledge of automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Bash or Python.
  • Experience implementing operational maturity, service improvements and process optimisation initiatives.
